Trade in vehicleThe Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) is the national trade association representing recreation vehicle (RV) manufacturers and their component parts suppliers who together build more than 98 percent of all RVs produced in the U.S.

An RV is a vehicle designed as temporary living quarters for recreational, camping, travel or season use. RVs may be motorized (motorhomes) or towable (travel trailers, folding camping trailers and truck campers). Off-road vehicles are not included in the RV definition.

Headquartered in the Washington, D.C. suburb of Reston, Virginia, RVIA is a unifying force for safety and professionalism within the RV industry and works with both federal and state government agencies to protect the interests of its members.

A clearinghouse of industry facts and information, RVIA also provides free materials to consumers and other publics about RV travel and camping and actively works with the media nationwide to educate the public about the benefits of RVing.

RVIA maintains an inspection program to monitor compliance of the plumbing, heating, fire and life safety, and the electrical systems of the RVs manufactured by its members in conformance to the ANSI/NFPA 1192 standard for RVs. RVIA also provides an on-going Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) education program for its members.

    about used cars

If you’ve come here looking for a used or certified pre-owned car, truck, SUV, crossover, hatchback, hybrid or convertible, then you’re in the right place. Edmunds has everything you need to know about buying or selling a used vehicle, including Carfax vehicle history reports, dealership listings and pricing information, expert car reviews, consumer car reviews, car dealership reviews, car price comparisons, car appraisal calculators, images and videos, technical features and specs, user forums and more.

At Edmunds, you’ll be able to browse thousands of used cars, trucks and SUVs for sale with special offers, appraise your current car, and research the car, SUV or truck of your dreams. You can limit your search to certified pre-owned (or CPO) vehicles for sale and be a click away from articles by our experts that will give you the best car shopping and buying tips and advice. Let’s take a closer look at each of these aids to easier used-car shopping.

The INVENTORY tab at the top of the page allows you to browse used cars for sale from popular makes such as Ford, Honda, Toyota, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Infiniti, Acura and Subaru. The inventory tool allows you to cast a much wider net than simply visiting your local dealership’s website. Start with the make and model of the vehicle that you’re interested in. You’ll have the option to refine your search by price, distance, model year and mileage. If you’re looking for specific options or features, a certain trim level or a specific color, there are more advanced search filters available, including engine type, fuel type, drivetrain, powertrain, airbags, air-conditioning and much more. After you find the car, SUV, truck or hybrid that you’re interested in, select the listing to check out the VIN details page for that vehicle and get more information. There you’ll find a description of the vehicle from the dealer, vehicle features and options, contact information for that dealership, dealer reviews, a ballpark insurance estimate, and a link to see a Carfax vehicle history report.

The APPRAISE tab at the top of the page lets you enter your car’s basic information, odometer reading, trim level, and overall condition. Then Edmunds provides you with the True Market Value (TMV) for your used car or vehicle. Edmunds’s True Market Value or used car value is is a great starting point for negotiation of a used-car sale between a private buyer and seller. This is an “as is” value that does not include any warranties. The final sales price depends on the car’s actual condition and local market factors. You can use this used car value estimate to price your car for sale or to negotiate a trade-in for a new, CPO, or previously owned car for sale from a local dealer. The used car value estimate is also useful for assessing retail pricing at a car dealer. You can try it out by clicking the “APPRAISE” tab, above. Once you enter your vehicle details, you will receive three estimates for your used car’s value: “Trade-in” is what you can expect a dealer to offer you for your used car; “Private Party” is what you might expect to earn if you sold the pre-owned vehicle yourself; and “Dealer Retail” is what you might expect to pay if you were buying this used model used at a dealership. If the vehicle is new enough, you’ll also see a price that says “Certified Used Price.” This price estimates what the dealership might sell it for as a certified pre-owned vehicle.

The RESEARCH tab points you to our expert analysis of the make and model of the car you select. You can read our editors’ reviews and learn about each generation of the vehicle you’re interested in. From there, you can narrow the focus of your car buying research by selecting a particular model year and learning more by checking out photos of the cars, researching local dealership listings, car valuation, consumer reviews, editors’ reviews, pros & cons, features & specs, and safety information. That’s a world of information. And we’ve put it all right at your fingertips.

Are you thinking about trading in your vehicle at the dealership or selling it yourself? Find out what your used car is worth with our True Market Value appraisal tool. Enter the year, make and model to get started. Make sure you know the options on your vehicle and the current odometer reading. Be honest about the condition level. Most cars will fall in the “average” to “clean” range.

The appraisal tool will give you three prices: “Trade-in” is what you can expect a dealer to offer you. “Private Party” is what you might expect to earn if you sold the vehicle yourself. “Dealer Retail” is what you might expect to pay if you were buying this model used at a dealership. If the vehicle is new enough, you’ll also see a price that says “Certified Used Price.” This price estimates what the dealer might sell it for as a CPO vehicle.

If you are hesitant about buying a traditional used car, you may want to consider a certified pre-owned vehicle. These vehicles tend to be newer, have gone through a more detailed inspection process and come with a limited warranty. The Edmunds inventory tool will have an option to sort the list to show only CPO vehicles. You can also go directly to the CPO cars page.

Explore Car-Buying Articles: If you’re unsure about the next steps in buying a used car — or car buying in general — Edmunds has research articles that can help. Take a look at those we’ve linked to on this page, or visit our research main page for a full list of articles that have been written by Edmunds car-shopping experts.

Cars are EVolving, vehicle worth.#Vehicle #worth

    Vehicles are EV olving

The transportation sector accounts for more greenhouse gas emissions than iron, steel, cement and chemical industries combined.

Accelerating the shift to low- and zero-emission vehicles will be crucial if Ontario is to achieve its climate change goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) to 15% below 1990 levels in 2020, 37% in 2030 and 80% in 2050.

To achieve this goal, the Province will need to reduce emissions from vehicles on the road today, and undertake actions to promote the adoption of zero and low emitting vehicles now and in the future.

Moving to a more sustainable transportation model is critical for reducing our carbon footprint. Ontario is ready for electric vehicles and is taking action to help people make the switch by addressing the barriers to EV adoption through the following initiatives:

    Vehicle worth

Price Premium – There is a price premium for electric vehicles compared to conventional gas-powered vehicles.

The Electric Vehicle Incentive Program, provides incentives to support the purchase of eligible electric vehicles, which when coupled with fuel savings, makes electric vehicles a real alternative for Ontario drivers.

The Electric Vehicle Incentive Program has been modernized with updated incentive values for eligible EVs and additional incentives for vehicles with a greater capacity to carpool. This will help make EVs more affordable to Ontarians.

Please note that as of January 1, 2017, changes have been made to the Electric Vehicle Incentive Program. Please visit the Electric Vehicle Incentive Program webpage for more detail.

    Vehicle worth

Range Anxiety – A network of optimally distributed public fast-charging stations that enable EV drivers to travel between and within cities across the Province will help build confidence that EVs are a real choice for Ontarians. The Electric Vehicle Chargers Ontario (EVCO) program promotes the use of EVs for inter- and in-city travel by supporting the construction of fast-charging infrastructure.

The EVCO program further encourage Ontarians to purchase electric vehicles, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and keeping our air clean.

The Province is also continuing to provide incentives for the purchase and installation of charging stations for personal/private use, under the Electric Vehicle Charging Incentive Program (EVCIP).

    Vehicle worth

Education and Awareness – While electric vehicles have been available in Ontario since 2010, Ontarians are just starting to embrace the technology. Educating Ontarians and increasing their awareness of the benefits of electric vehicles and the programs to support their adoption is another way the Province is working to get more low- and zero-emissions vehicles on the road.

    Vehicle worth

School Buses are EVolving – Another Climate Change Action Plan initiative that will be launched during the 2017 – 2018 school year is the Electric School Bus Pilot Program (ESB Pilot). The Pilot will help determine if ESBs can operate reliably and cost effectively across Ontario in all weather conditions. It will consider barriers to the adoption of ESBs by school bus operators, as well as the potential of ESBs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and diesel pollution from student transportation.

School bus operators providing student transportation services in Ontario may apply to participate in the Pilot. Successful applicants will receive funds for the purchase of an ESB and the purchase and installation of associated charging infrastructure.

The above initiatives, being led by the Ministry of Transportation, are in addition to several Climate Change Action Plan initiatives that are being led by other ministries across government to support the adoption of electric vehicles, which include:

    • An Electric Vehicle Overnight Charging Program (Ministry of Energy).
    • A Vehicle Replacement Program (Ministry of Environment and Climate Change)
    • EV-ready new and existing homes, multi-unit residential buildings and workplaces (Ministries of Municipal Affairs and Government and Consumer Services).
    • Electric and Hydrogen Advancement Partnership (Ministry of Environment and Climate Change).
    • A Plug’n Drive EV Showcase (Ministry of Environment and Climate Change)
    • EV charging stations at government properties (Ministry of Infrastructure).

The Maryland Recreational Vehicle Dealer’s Association was founded in 1965, and incorporated in 1969, as a group of RV Dealers selling motor homes, travel trailers, and conversion vehicles.

Membership was later extended to affiliated industries such as Parts/Accessory suppliers, Repair Facilities, Banks, and Financial and Insurance companies meeting the highest quality standards.

Our goal is to ensure the growth and enjoyment of a quality RV experience for our customers throughout Maryland and the United States. To that end we ensure our members remain committed to providing the highest quality products & service.

The MRVDA also holds 2 major RV Shows each year at the Timonium Fairgrounds, 2200 York Road in Timonium, Maryland. The first show takes place the last two full weekends of February, with the second being held on one weekend in September.

On A New or Used RV This Season

Benefits of Purchasing Locally from a Maryland Dealer:

    • Local Maryland RV Dealers will BEAT or MATCH any legitimate out of state quote
    • You enjoy valuable “face time” with your Dealer Representative who can walk you through the product, explaining features and benefits of the product.
    • You receive a full product orientation prior to delivery, which includes hands-on directions for many of the coaches systems and functions. You are also introduced to the Dealership’s Service / Parts / Warranty personnel who are at the ready to help you with any issues you may encounter, now and in the future.
    • You enjoy CUSTOMER PRIORITY when it comes to getting your unit serviced. Dealerships will always service their purchasing customers first and all out of state RV’s will get pushed to the back of the line. This can result in a one to three month wait in some cases and is the NUMBER 1 source of REGRET of those who choose to purchase from an out of state dealer. What is it worth to you to have a dealership’s full attention and motivation to satisfy you when you need service – in a timely manner?
    • Not only do you get the best RV prices and service but valuable tax dollars and jobs stay in YOUR community which pays for YOUR roads, schools, police and fire departments etc.

    —Sincerely, Greg Merkel Treasurer

What will you discover when you go RVing? That boredom can’t find you if it doesn’t know where to look.

Freedom, flexibility and fun: that’s the RV difference.

There’s taking a trip from Point A to Point B. And then there’s RVing. Recreation vehicles give you more control, convenience and comfort than other forms of travel. With an RV, you can hit the road more often for longer periods, for less money.

The reasons you go RVing are the same reasons you take any vacation. To get a break from the daily routine. To be with family and friends. To rest. To relax. To see new places. To try new things.

But the difference between RVing and other types of vacations is that RVing allows you to truly achieve all those goals – and more.

With RVing, there are no flights to catch. No security hassles. No long lines or lost luggage. No hauling heavy bags in or out of costly hotel rooms. No expensive, unhealthy food. No strange bedrooms, bathrooms or kitchens.

RV owners surveyed by Harris Interactive cited escaping the routine of the everyday world, enjoying nature and resting, and relaxing and recharging their batteries as the main reasons for taking RV trips.
