Job Description for Information Security Manager

Information security managers are in charge of maintaining security protocols throughout their organizations. They are responsible for creating strategies to increase network and internet security related to different projects. They handle a team of IT professionals to ensure easy access to data while maintaining high standards in terms of confidentiality and general data security. They also often work to find and prevent issues related to software or hardware equipment used by different teams within the company. Information security managers also review current security policies and update requirements in accordance with the sensitivity of the data. They also implement checks to avoid data corruption and identity theft by setting privacy rules. They deploy operating system updates to ensure effective working equipment. They do regular maintenance checks in all servers, switches, routers and other connectivity devices.

Most of the time, information security managers run programs across networks to verify the status of running applications. They usually have a regular 9-5 weekday schedule, although their work can be varied depending on their company needs. They need to have strong verbal and written abilities to communicate with other teams, and be able to present new ideas to executives in their organization. Overview

Physician assistants diagnose illnesses, develop and carry out treatment plans, assist in surgeries, perform procedures and guide patients. Jeffrey Katz, president of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), says, “I diagnose and treat patients, illnesses and diseases and counsel them on their path to wellness.”

Their work is very similar to that of a general internist or doctor, but they are required by law to practice under the supervision of a licensed physician or surgeon. Often, this supervision is more like collaboration, but there are certain archaic regulations that make life for physician assistants – and their patients – difficult. “To give a real-life example of these arbitrary regulations, in my practice, I can write a patient a prescription for morphine,” Katz explains. “However by law, I cannot prescribe my diabetic patients diabetic shoes.”

“Often the stress comes in when PAs are not able to practice to the full extent of their training, education and ability,” Katz says.

But the profession is filled with rewards that come from helping and treating patients. A 2015 AAPA study found that more than 96 percent would recommend their physician assistant career to others. Katz has worked in the same family practice in Taylorsville, North Carolina, for more than 20 years and has seen generations of families. “It is really cool to see the children of children. … I don’t think there’s any better gift,” he says.

The U.S. is currently facing a shortage of health care professionals, and physician assistants – who are a cost-effective alternative to general internists – are needed to fill the void. From 2014 to 2024, the BLS projects that this field will grow at a rate of 30 percent, which will shake out into 28,700 new jobs for physician assistants.

Training

Many professionals already have a bachelor’s degree, or have some experience as a registered nurse, EMT or paramedic, when they start their physician assistant training. After this, hopeful physician assistants will need to apply to an accredited physician assistant program. These master’s degree programs generally take 26 months to complete and include both coursework and supervised clinical work.

Graduates then have to take a certification exam offered through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Additionally, all 50 states and the District of Columbia require licensure, which is obtained by passing this exam and applying for a state-specific license. To maintain their certification, physician assistants must pass a recertifying exam every 10 years.

You will want to check into schools that have accelerated BSN programs and make sure you have the necessary pre-requisites (e.g. A P, microbiology, statistics, nutrition, etc.). Sociology is one of the pre-reqs, so you’ve got that covered!

Next, you should see what else the school requires in addition to pre-reqs and undergrad GPA. Some schools require the GRE or another standardized test. Some will require you to write an essay or submit letters of recommendation.

– Different programs look for different things. For example, one of the main criteria for an accelerated BSN program would be that you would have to have a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field. A 3.0 undergrad GPA is also usually the norm for these programs.

– I am not sure what the exact requirements are to get into an ADN program (associate’s in nursing). I hear these have waiting lists sometimes.

– Since you already have a bachelor’s degree, you would be an eligible applicant for an accelerated program. You could also go for your ADN (associate’s in nursing) and then do a bridge program (RN-to-BSN). You would definitely need your BSN if you want to become a CRNA.

I am a Georgia resident, currently working on a four year degree, but would like to switch to the field of nursing. I am planning on completing a CNA course this month, then do my LPN. The problem I am having is the prequisits. I have just two of them and would like to start the LPN course shortly after. Does anyone know of any accredited online courses that I can take to avoid these waiting list? I am engaged to be married soon and do not have a lot of time to wait around as I will have a family to support.

You could also go for your ADN (associate’s in nursing) and then do a bridge program (RN-to-BSN). You would definitely need your BSN if you want to become a CRNA.

*** Not necessarily. A bachelors degree IS required for CRNA school but lots of schools accept degrees other than a BSN. You could go to CRNA school with an ADN and a bachelors in something else. My best friend just left for CRNA school. He has an ADN, a BS in biology and will graduate CRNA school with an MS in biology.
A BSN may be a better bet though.

Hedge fund accountants earned $62,213 to $84,700 with a master’s degree, while mutual fund accountants earned $55,913 to $74,525 with this level of education.

Career Outlook

Until 2020, accountants in general should experience a job growth of 16 percent, reports the BLS. This is just faster than the national average for all U.S. occupations, a projected 14 percent. Accountants with professional certifications and advanced degrees should see the greatest prospects.
