Your Vehicle s Trade-in Value: The Real Truth! #car #and #driver

Your Vehicle’s Trade-in Value: The Real Truth!

Car dealers have a bad habit of telling you they’re giving you more for your trade-in than they actually are. They do this by artificially inflating the price of the vehicle you’re purchasing, then artificially inflating the trade-in allowance to make you think you’re getting a tremendous amount for your car.

In reality, all they are going to give you is wholesale value. Just ask yourself this: Why should they buy a car from a customer for more money than they can buy a similar car for at a dealer auction? A car dealer is no different than any other merchant in that they have to buy inventory to resell. Just like the grocery store owner, they have to buy at wholesale and sell at retail in order to make a profit. If they can’t make a decent profit they’re out of business.

The problem is that I’ve never met a customer who is satisfied with wholesale value for their trade-in. Everybody thinks their car is worth way more than it really is! It doesn’t help when Blue Book and others list unrealistic values for most vehicles. The only way to get more than wholesale value is to sell the vehicle privately.

Car dealers even have terms to differentiate between the real amount they are putting in a trade (ACV) and the fake number that they list on your sales order (Over Allowance). ACV stands for “Actual Cash Value.” They have these two terms so that when they are discussing the deal between management and salesperson, and when they are calculating their profit after a deal is complete they can differentiate between the real number for the trade and the false, inflated one!

So what happens when you trade a vehicle to a car dealer is that they’ll inflate the selling price of the vehicle you’re buying and then artificially inflate the trade-in allowance so you think you’re getting a high trade allowance. It’s all “Smoke and Mirrors!”

If you’re buying a used vehicle they will have the price jacked up high enough over their cost to allow them to show you an artificially inflated trade-in allowance and still make a decent profit. In the case of a new vehicle they will start with the sticker price, and even add the rebate if any into the pot to give them some extra room to over inflate the trade-in allowance.

If you’re buying a new vehicle always tell them to put the rebate aside until after the deal is agreed upon. Then, and only then do you subtract the rebate. Otherwise you risk losing the rebate in a jumbled up mess of numbers!

This is why I recommend on this website to always negotiate the selling price without the trade-in. Spring the trad-in on them after you have agreed to a price on the vehicle you’re buying. This is the only way you can know for sure how much they are actually giving you for your trade. The car sales person won’t like it, but so what. No one says you have to do a car deal their way. Their way will usually cost you more money!

If you tell them up front that you have a trade-in they will always hold back some money in the selling price so they can show you – on paper – an inflated trade-in allowance. The “price difference” will be the same in both scenarios, but the latter always looks better on paper to the customer even though it’s all BS!

Doing car deals in this convoluted way is not all the car dealer’s fault. As I mentioned earlier, most customers have an inflated opinion of what their trade-in is worth, so in order not to make the customer mad the dealer will show them on paper what they want to see. a high trade-in allowance, even though there is absolutely no way a car dealer could or would pay that amount for the trade.

What a Crazy System!

The UK – s largest car review site written by real owners #free #car #valuation

#car review sites

Our Car Owner Reviews Car Reviews are made by motorists who still own or sold their cars recently.

Just over 60% of all reviews are made by existing owners and the remainder are made by people who have sold their cars in the last 12 months. We do this to ensure that the user of the site gets a balanced view which may differ once someone has sold a car.

Only owners of cars can make a review or a second review of their car by invitation from us – the review database cannot be updated any other way.  This means that car reviews are more accurate, more dependable, more balanced, are not open to manipulation and can be used by prospective buyers to gather more reliable information.

If you object to a review’s content for any reason please report it to us and we will consider deleting it.  The reviews are the views of the owners of the cars and not of our Company and are for your information only. The review comments themselves are the copyright of the reviewer who has given our Company worldwide rights to their exclusive use.  Please refer to our terms and conditions and privacy pages for more information.

How We Work The Ratings Out

The 792,793 reviews are made by people who have driven their car for some time. Many have added their own comments which you can view by searching on the make and model. The above lists take all the reviews made by drivers of a particular manufacturer within a particular category and then add them all up and find the average. For example, with ‘Economy’, there may be 19,178 reviewers of Fords who have each set the number of ‘Stars’ from 1 to 5: 1 Star being poor and 5 Stars being very good. We then find the average number of Stars and place Ford on the table. If another manufacturer has a lower average then they will be lower than Ford. Remember, the ratings are opinions of drivers. We recommend you search a particular make and model for more accurate views of drivers who have rated that model. The ratings we have on our database will differ from the Car Awards which are calculated at a point in time whilst the Car review database is dynamic and will change over time.

Thank you so much for your remarkable assistance to us in selling our home in Encino. Your insight to the market was excellent. Your advice was spot on and you and your associates were active and helpful throughout the term of sale. The photographer who did the home view was excellent and our general advertising for the house was very well done. There was never a call to your office that you did not return personally and there was many a Sunday when you personally covered the front door. During the negotiations which led to the sale, you gave good advice and were consistently available personally. Even after the sale, you came over and stayed in the house when the buyers wanted to come to the house with their contractor. You remained involved even after the closing whenever we needed you. We felt supported throughout in every respect and our biggest sadness now, is that we have no explicit reason to see you regularly! We wish you the best and thank you for all that you did to help us.

Pamela and Peter Gurfein

Not only did you help us set a realistic price, but you brought forth the eventual buyer within only a few weeks of the listing. Moreover, as absentee owners, we especially value the contributions you made in securing various parties–a stager, numerous repair people, movers–to facilitate and speed the sale. We would be pleased to serve as references for you in the future.

Harvey Poppel

As a single woman selling my first home, the effort seemed a bit overwhelming. Your experience and professional approach gave me a confident feeling that everything would go smoothly. And it did. Thank you for making the entire process of selling my home so stress free.

Pam Hooper

Thank you for the exemplary way in which you handled the sale of our home. Your dedication to working for us is unparalleled as you were after every detail and on top of all that was going on. The many telephone calls to update us on what was happening, to patiently listen and deal with our questions, and to offer advice as to what we should do in certain situations were all so much appreciated. The sale of our home went flawlessly due to your persistence, dedication and attention to detail.

Bob and Carol Turner

Thank you for being a terrific person and the best real estate person that we have ever been involved with. You are one of a kind.

Harry and Judy King

We wanted to thank you for all your work in helping us to sell our house so quickly. You made the process very easy for us. We were also very pleased with the final price that you helped negotiate for us during the multiple bidding process. Your negotiation skills proved to be invaluable!

Gary and Alexis Kashar

Carol was compassionate and extraordinarily sensitive to all our emotional needs, as well as amazingly competent in every aspect of real estate! She is a total professional in every way, and without a doubt the best. But more important than anything else, she is a very good person, which in my opinion, is the core of her success!

William Alberts, MD

Parting with a home that has been in your family for a long time is a very difficult experience. In addition to finalizing all the details, there is an emotional attachment to the property. Finding an outstanding agent that will represent your best interests in a professional honest manner, from a pool of average agents, is just as difficult. I am writing this letter to thank you for selling my mother’s house and also to let you know that I am happy to have found you. I always felt that you had our best interest in mind.

Larisa Dorfman

Even though I had gotten several appraisals, you priced the house at 0,000 higher than the highest appraisal and you sold it the first week for full price. I had a “gut feeling” that the house was worth more than the appraisals, but since I live out of town I had almost given up and sold it for less money. Your professional representation of the house and your diligent follow-through with all of the details made the entire process a pleasure. Thank you again for a terrific job!

Lana Corneau

Thank you for another incredible job. We thought that when you sold our last house in one day that it was tremendous luck; now that you have sold our second house, we know that it is incredible skill. Your research was superb. Your marketing plan was first class. You kept us posted on the local markets and you were always prepared to show the house. We always felt protected by you. You held our hand through every step of the process. You even found us incredible movers. I miss our daily chats and the genuine concern you had for our family’s relocation.

Real Estate Displays – Custom Built Window Displays And Signage #real #estate #advertising #guidelines

Our recent news articles

Real Estate Displays has served the Real Estate Industry since 1986 and is proud of its reputation for professionalism, quality and service having worked with some of Australia’s top agents. If you would like to showcase the displays or signage we have installed at your new office here, feel free to send through your favourite photo of your office, and a brief blurb about your company so we can post it.

Posted: 7th March 2016

When we decided to set up our Raine & Horne office in Leura, one of the main considerations we had was our business signage.

Posted: 10th November 2015

Please visit us and like/follow us on our Real Estate Displays Facebook page to see the latest in our eye catching installations.

Professionals Lithgow updated our window display and the team at real estate displays were fantastic. Even though our office is a long way for them to come, nothing was too much trouble and the job was done on time and when they promised it would be. I would use real estate displays again for any window work that we wanted done.

Tina Case, Licensee Professionals Lithgow

I have used Real Estate Displays for all my signage and rebranding since 1999. At all times they have been prompt and professional, affordable and adaptable to all installation issues. As a bonus, the quality of materials and workmanship has been outstanding. I strongly recommend Real Estate Displays.

John Davis, LJ Hooker Seaforth

I have been dealing with Real Estate displays for many years in regards to window displays, signage for our cars etc & they do a great job, always excellent quality & happy to go the extra mile for us.

Roy Amery, Richardson & Wrench Rooty Hill

We have truly found since we had Real Estate Displays redo our window display it’s generated more business and helped us to win more business. One of our competitors actually said “we have gone from having the oldest window display in Gosford to having one of the best and most modern window displays on the Central Coast.

Adrian Knight, Ray White Gosford

We love our window displays. Right from the very start the team at Real Estate Displays provided us with great service and offered invaluable advice specific to our office needs. The smart no fuss design of the display is simple to use and easy to keep clean. We are especially proud of our LED windows – we definitely stand out from the crowd.

Michelle Lewin, Wiseberry Peninsula

Laing+Simmons Corporation have been working with Robert Gale and Real Estate Displays for more than 20 years, quite simply because they do a great job! They understand our brand, have a good eye for what will work in even the most unusual space, turnaround the designs quickly and most of all are just great people to deal with. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.

Leanne Pilkington, Laing + Simmons Real Estate

Real Estate Displays have been my signage company of choice since I began in Real Estate back in 1983. They offer an unrivalled, professional service, quality installations, and consistently follow-up on jobs. All staff I have dealt with are friendly, efficient and easy to deal with. I have no hesitation in recommending them to any other business requiring signage services.

Craig Marshall, Savills Cordeau Marshall

We have used Rob Gale and the team at RED for more than 10 years and 3 rebrands across our 5 office network. Rob’s can do attitude and eye for detail have helped make the process exciting and satisfying each time. They deliver and install the end product on time and are always willing to accommodate our needs. We would recommend them to all quality agencies.

Benjamin Goben, Chadwick Real Estate

Great to work with the team. Always happy to help and find solutions to signage challenges. Appreciate their being pedantic & adhering to the brand guidelines. Makes it so much easier to rely on consistent branding.

Eya Roxas, Richardson & Wrench Head Office

Setting up a new real estate office is a very challenging and stressful time. I’m happy to say that Robert and the team and Real Estate Displays made the signage and window displays one of the easiest components to organise. Roberts attention to detail with the design and layout was carried through by their installers, resulting in a very clean, modern and professional looking front office to showcase our properties. I highly recommend Real Estate Displays without any hesitation.

Peter Brack, Century 21 Radar Properties

A big thank you for all your advice and assistance in setting up our displays. Everything was well explained and and carefully thought through and within our budget. Thanks for coming up with the ideal solutions to maximise our exposure while remaining within the strict LJ Hooker advertising guidelines. We will happily recommend Real Estate Displays to any of our colleagues that require signage in future.

Gordon Jovic, LJ Hooker West Pennant Hills

We recently updated our corporate identity meaning that all 30 of our offices needed their signage changed simultaneously. Real Estate Displays managed to do the job on-time and on-budget without even the slightest hitch. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

  • How Can I Determine the Real Value of My Car? #car #transportation

    #used cars values

How Can I Determine the Real Value of My Car?

There are plenty of reasons you might need to find out the value of your car, even if you’re not selling it. If you total your car, knowing how much it was worth before the accident can help get you the most money from your claim. You would also want to know how much it’s worth if you plan to use your car as collateral for a personal loan. And, of course, if you’re buying one, overpaying is the last thing you want to do.

Get a Value Estimate From Sites Like Kelley or Edmunds

Now, keep in mind that these values may not be tied to actual cars or car sales. Kelley, for example, determines car value based on a car’s initial price when it was new, market conditions, what people look for, and bunch of other factors. They don’t, however, analyze all used car sales (it would be impossible to track them all, anyway). So, while the KBB value may bear a close resemblance to what you might pay at a used car dealership, you would probably not get that same amount for a trade-in, or even a private sale unless you could prove it’s worth that much.

    Find Listings for Similar Cars

Unless you’re dealing with very old or very rare cars, someone out there is probably selling a vehicle that’s very similar to yours. Search used car listings in your area for vehicles that are the same make, model, and year as your vehicle and see how much others are charging.

If you’re dealing with a total loss insurance claim, this will be your best bet for proving the value of your vehicle. The purpose of insurance is to make you whole again in the event of an emergency. You lost your car, so your insurance is supposed to pay you an amount equal to the value of that car. Occasionally, insurance companies will low ball you in an attempt to save money. You can take used car listings to your insurance agent to prove that, if you had to buy your car on the market today, this is how much it would cost. If the amount they offer is significantly lower than that, it’s time to negotiate (though be aware the price can be affected by factors described in the next section).

Additionally, if you’re selling your car yourself, used car listings are your chance to see what customers are looking for and undercut the competition. Your car may be worth $10,000, but if you’re willing to accept $9,500, you can put your car on the market for that amount and become more attractive to potential buyers (and in doing so, you have an effect on the objective value of your vehicle).

Finally, in doing your research, be sure to look at similar cars, not just identical ones. Knowing how much your exact year and model of car is worth is a big help, but buyers are probably not quite as picky. If you have a 2005 model vehicle, but the 2007 model is $5,000 more expensive, shoppers looking for a 2007 may be okay with getting something a couple years older if it saves them a bunch of money.

Factor in Mileage, Condition, and Extras

Not all cars with the same year, make, and model are created equal. Well, actually, many are created equal because they’re in a factory that way, but they don’t stay like that! Mileage is a huge factor in determining what a car is worth. While some cars last longer than others, a vehicle with less than 50,000 miles on it probably has a lot more life in it than one with 150,000 miles.

Determining how much the mileage of a car will reduce its value is not exactly a science, and it depends a lot on the age of the vehicle (a 2012 car with 30k miles on it has clearly been driven pretty hard, while a 2001 car with 60k miles on it probably hasn’t been driven much at all). However, in the US, the average person drives between 12k and 15k per year. Any more than that per year that your car has been around will probably reduce the value more, while less than that will probably drive its price up a bit. Again, look to see what other similar cars are going for.

Mileage isn’t the only extra that can affect a car’s price. Extras such as the sound system, sun roofs, convertible tops, and any other neat thing your car has can increase the cost. Of course, upgrading the CD player to a touchscreen XM radio won’t undo the fact that you drove your car 20k miles every year, but if your car has heated leather seats and an otherwise identical car does not, yours should probably cost a bit more.

    Negotiate Up

If you followed the last few sections, you have just about all the information you could possibly need. Now, bring that price up. Remember, it’s your car and you want to get as much value for it as possible. The buyer/insurance agent/loan officer/whoever you’re dealing with on the other side of the table will do their job to bring it down. Use your information as a baseline to know how much your vehicle deserves and don’t go below what you know you can get. From there, talk it up.

Promote all the extras. Talk about how great of a condition its in. If you’re selling to a person, try to appeal to what they want in a car and highlight those features. If you’re trying to argue an insurance claim, point out ways in which your vehicle is better than others on the market (lower mileage for its year, better condition, fewer accidents prior to the wreck in question). Some cars may have more value than others, but every car has something to offer. Even if it doesn’t run, it could be used for parts or scrap metal.

Ultimately, as I stated at the beginning of this post, your car is worth whatever you can get someone to pay for it. Some people prefer to get a moderate amount of money up front if they can get it in cash, while others will hold out as long as possible to get every last cent they can. Once you know what your car has going for it and how much those assets can go for on the open market, how high you’re able to go all depends on how good your negotiation skills are.

The de Blasio administration is finally moving forward with a proposal it announced 18 months ago to seriously curtail the city’s emerging self-storage industry as part of City Hall’s plan to preserve middle-class jobs by regulating development in certain manufacturing zones.

City Hall this week introduced a land use application that would require new self-storage facilities to acquire special permits in certain parts of manufacturing districts in the outer boroughs, a move largely seen as tantamount to a ban on the business, which is acutely undersupplied in the five boroughs.

Mayor Bill de Blasio first brought the subject up in November 2015, when he laid out a 10-point plan to preserve manufacturing jobs in the city. (Another part of that proposal, a requirement for special permits for hotels that has the backing of the powerful hotel trades union. has not yet been introduced.)

As City Hall fine-tuned its proposal in March, planners considered alternatives such as allowing self-storage as parts of mixed-use developments with manufacturing uses. The alternative is not included in the city’s current application, but self-storage supporter are planning on pushing for its inclusion through the public review process.

“They’re now looking at how to create mixed-use developments that would include self-storage and manufacturing space,” said Michael Woloz, a lobbyist with the firm Connelly McLaughlin Woloz who is working on behalf of a Bronx-based self-storage company to push back against the proposal.

“There are things that they’ve looked at that could represent some compromise positions,” he added. “What’s old is that City Planning itself admitted that such a text amendment would increase rates for existing self-storage and impact the amount of self storage in [industrial business zones].”

Opponents of the self-storage industry argue that the businesses provide only a few, low-paying jobs and take up valuable real estate that could otherwise be used for manufacturing. Supporters take the position that self-storage has stepped in only after manufacturing jobs have left the city for various other reasons, and that many small businesses rely on self-storage as a low-cost warehousing option.

In recent months the New York Self Storage Association and chambers of commerce in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens have come out against de Blasio’s proposal. and opposition is brewing among members of the City Council.

The City Council delegation from the Bronx, where many self-storage businesses are located, has mixed views on the industry, but regardless all eight members of the delegation have asked City Hall to hit the pause button on its zoning amendment.

Along with Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. the delegation wrote a letter to the Department of City Planning last week saying they hadn’t been properly consulted when the city was drafting its proposal.

“To be clear, the Bronx Delegation is hardly a monolith on the subject of self-storage,” the letter read. “Some members of the delegation see self-storage as affordable warehousing for individuals and small businesses of minimal means. Others see it as a blight on waterfront properties and a competitor with manufacturing. Even though our views might vary from member to member, the delegation stands united in calling for a new beginning.”

For now, the political debate over self-storage seems to have shifted from manufacturing jobs to focus on the industry’s customers. Self-storage’s boosters say that facilities largely serve local residential residents without large homes and small businesses such as landscapers.

The political fight may boil down to who uses self-storage facilities. Supporters say that a large portion of self-storage customers are small businesses. But detractors are painting an image of Manhattan yuppies renting space in the boroughs to store skis and relief from their bulging closets.

In April, Diaz Jr. and Forest Hills Council Member Karen Koslowitz announced they planned to introduce legislation that would require self-storage facilities to report customers’ zip codes to the city in order to “provide a window into the universe of customers these facilities serve.”

Should de Blasio’s measure pass, it would squeeze new supply in an already extremely tight market. The New York metro area has 3.5 square feet of self-storage per person, compared to the nationwide average of 7.2 square feet, making it the most under-served market in the country, according to a report CBRE released last year.
