Good cause it’s small, but the wiring was bit more of a hassle than I thought it would be (needed bigger wire).

Review of 7496s Review by WLD Review of 7496s WLD

I should’ve paid better attention. I purchased this as the first of a few intended purchases of this unit. Upon careful inspection after I recieved it, I find that it is a wired unit, not wireless.

I can still use it, and it will work in the location I had initially selected for it as it’ll be near the main panel, but I wish I would’ve payed closer attention to that detail. Still a nice little unit.

Police Auctions in Australia, AuctionFinder, police car auctions.#Police #car #auctions

Police Auctions in Australia

Police and law enforcement departments across Australia hold regular auctions to dispose of seized goods, stolen and recovered items, unclaimed goods, proceeds of crime and much more. Ex-police equipment also ends up at auction and is highly sought after. On this page, I will provide a brief intro into both, and where to start looking for these auctions.

Police car auctions

Police Seized Unclaimed Goods Auctions

At these auctions, you will find lots and lots of jewelry, mobile phones, iPads, and gadgets etc. Occasionally there are some really odd things too. For example, at one particular auction in Melbourne, I came across a complete large-scale hydroponic system and I can only wonder what that was that used for before the boys in blue took hold of it.

Property is usually held for 2 months and if unclaimed, it heads to auction where it must be sold. Commonly seen items at these sales include things like:

  • Sporting equipment
  • Motor vehicles, Auto accessories Marine
  • Furniture and Electrical goods
  • TV’s, video/DVD, stereo, CD players etc.
  • PlayStations, Xbox and game consoles, Mobile Phones (usually lots and lots of phones )
  • Jewelry (again, usually there is lot of it..)
  • Power tools and equipment
  • Bikes of all types

Of course, all things are sold as is and usually, untested. So for expensive items, you need to do more diligence than usual as a lot of the goods, especially electronics, is damaged in some way. Items are sold without reserve, so there is the chance of snagging quite a bargain which is one of the big attractions of these sales.

Who will be at this type of auction? Anyone is welcome to register and bid and you will find a lot of second-hand dealers, eBayers, and people who have come to bid on a particular item of interest. Most people at these auctions are skilled hands who know the value of items and are there for the purpose of buying and reselling.

Ex-Police Vehicles and Equipment at Auction

The Police departments own equipment, such as cars, communication equipment, cameras and more that ends up at auction. The equipment is generally well maintained, having strict maintenance schedules, although they may not receive the T.L.C that a private owner/operator would give.

Ex-police interceptors/highway patrol vehicles have an almost cult-like following that makes them popular at auction, one reason for their popularity is that the vehicles often have increased performance specifications, such as better suspension, higher engine output, more robust drivetrain etc. There are also a lot of other vehicles types, like divisional vans, trucks, buses and plain standard vehicles that go up for sale. Most of this equipment/vehicles will end up at ex-government auctioneers such as Pickles and Manheim and flow through ex-gov and lease sales.

Where to find Police Auctions

Police Auctions are not generally run by the Police station or department itself, the auction will be handled by a third party auctioneer in almost all cases. Notices for these auctions can usually be found in the Saturday edition of the major newspaper in your region and via the commonly used auctioneers below.

Ace of Base: Ford Taurus Police Interceptor Sedan – The Truth About Cars, ex police cars for sale.#Ex #police #cars #for #sale

Ace of Base: Ford Taurus Police Interceptor Sedan

Ex police cars for sale

Despite what y’all may think sometimes, we do listen to you guys around here. Take this week’s Ace of Base as an example: Suggested by an alert reader, Ford’s current foray into the fleet of police forces across the nation do fit the Ace of Base ethos: a sparsely equipped example of a mass-market car offered at a rock bottom price.

Seven investigations on Autotrader quickly turned up several examples of current model year Ford Taurus Police Interceptors with under 100 miles on their clocks for around $22,000.

Barren interiors, steel wheels, plus Blues Brothers-style cop car modifications? Watch your head getting in, sir; we’re going for a ride.

Clad in Oxford White, these low-mile Interceptors haven’t seen their Charcoal Black interiors sullied by the bodily fluids of America’s finest miscreants. That’s usually the (valid) knock against buying a used-up police cruiser: the thing has probably seen more perps than Night Court at 100 Centre Street in Manhattan.

Not these. With scarcely a lap around the block under their base-model belts — one example is listed with only 18 miles on the clock — it would seem their engines haven’t even burned a cup of gasoline, let alone a full tank. A 3.7-liter V6 with a six-speed automatic is standard equipment on all-wheel-drive models, while Interceptors with 3.5-liter V6 send power solely to the front. Want more power? A 2.0T does its civic duty as the optional engine for front-drive Taurii, while a 148 mph EcoBoost V6 roams the streets for those wanting some turbo-go in an all-wheel-drive package. Check under the hood before you sign on the dotted line.

It’s not a complete and barren wasteland inside the Interceptor. A single USB port and Line-In connection reside waaaaay over near the passenger, but means riders need not rely on vapid terrestrial radio. A backup camera embedded in the rearview mirrors helps prevent drivers from reversing over hapless pedestrians.

Lost your key? No need to pony up big bucks for a gee-whiz chip enabled proximity unit here. A simple metal and plastic ignition key is on duty, just like the one in my father’s 1995 Aerostar. Keyless-entry fobs are cribbed from a 2001 Focus.

Air conditioning is on tap, natch, as are power windows, pedals, and front seats. Speaking of seats, hearty cloth buckets are installed in the front row, with a full 9 inches of space between them designed to house all manner of electronic equipment for the local constabulary. Civilians will find there is plenty of space for McDining. A handy flat plastic surface on top of the dash, intended for a radar gun, is a handy spot on which to rest your Big Mac. The vinyl rear bench makes for easy clean-up after a night of debauchery.

Included is an A-Pillar mounted spotlight, perfect for blinding random winos and gutter dwellers, plus an honest-to-gawd column shifter like nature and Henry Ford intended. The steering wheel is a standard Ford design but dispenses with volume buttons in favour of AUX switches. This means you can wire in some annoyingly bright LED bars (for off-road use only, right?) and toggle their operation without ever taking your hands off the wheel.

Police Interceptors tinted a natty shade of blue allow drivers to indulge in gritty undercover detective fantasies. Bonus points will be awarded to any member of the B B who buys one of these Interceptors and paints it with a jaunty theme.

Cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks although today’s cruisers definitely have catalytic converters. Just make sure to fix the cigarette lighter.

Not every base model has aced it. The ones that have? They help make the automotive landscape a lot better. Any others you can think of, B B? Let us know in the comments. Naturally, feel free to eviscerate our selections.

The model above is shown priced in American dollars. As always, a dealer may sell for less.

Police officers flooded Earlville during a manhunt for former La Salle County sheriff’s deputy Lowell “Max” Ambler on Wednesday.

  • David Giuliani

Earlville City Hall was on a temporary lockdown because of the search for Lowell “Max” Ambler. A City Council meeting set for Wednesday night was canceled.

  • David Giuliani

Police searched into the night Wednesday for a former La Salle County sheriff’s deputy who is accused of home invasion and carjacking.

Authorities started searching for Lowell “Max” Ambler, 46, in the woods south of Earlville about 2 p.m. He allegedly was spotted there.

A WGN helicopter released footage of a Hyundai Santa Fe south of Earlville that Ambler was believed to have stolen in a carjacking Wednesday morning in Plainfield.

Police officers from departments across the region stood along U.S. 34 facing south and holding their guns. Officers also searched buildings and cars.

Ambler grew up in Earlville and has spent much of his adult life in the community. From 2000 to 2015, he owned a two-story house with his wife, Kristen, at Grant and Bates streets. They have five children.

In early 2015, his son, Lowell “Dalton” Ambler, 17, died of cancer. Not long before, the Amblers finalized their divorce. Max Ambler also ended his 15-year career with the La Salle County Sheriff’s Office in 2015, a few years short of retirement.

He was a former Earlville alderman and police officer. His father, Lowell Ambler, was a former Earlville police chief.

Earlville and Leland schools will be closed Thursday as the manhunt continues.

After the search began in Earlville on Wednesday, the local schools and City Hall went on temporary lockdown. Students left school about a half hour late, under the watch of a police officer.

A state police plane scanned the area south of Earlville, while officers searched on the ground. Two TV station helicopters hovered.

One woman waiting for her grandchildren at the school complex said she knew Ambler.

“I’ve known him since he was this high,” she said, motioning about three feet from the ground. “I don’t know him this way. This is somebody I don’t know.”

Rita Kain, who lives on Bates Street across from Ambler’s old house, said he was a good neighbor, “a normal guy.”

“This really surprised me. He went to school with my son,” Kain said.

Another neighbor, Mary Bender, taught him English when he was in school. She had no complaints about Ambler as a neighbor.

“He worked hard to keep up his yard,” she said.

Asked about the turn of events, she said, “We live in a crazy world. My concern is for his kids and ex-wife.”

Many people in Earlville leave their doors unlocked, she said, but they may want to change that practice for the time being because of Ambler.

“To me, he’s gone over the edge,” Bender said.

On Aug. 26, Ambler entered a woman’s rural Compton home in Lee County, with his face covered, and bound the woman’s wrists with duct tape and bruised her, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Earlville students were let out of school a half hour later than usual because of a lockdown as a result of the search for Lowell “Max” Ambler.

Ambler was charged Sept. 15 in Lee County with aggravated kidnapping and home invasion. Ambler was jailed, but soon posted $25,000 cash to be released. A new arrest warrant was issued Monday, because authorities said he violated a condition of his bond.

Late Monday, a semitractor-trailer was stolen from rural Mendota and found unoccupied on Normantown Road in Plainfield, near the residence of a victim. Police believe Ambler is linked to the semi theft, which prompted a six-hour search of the area Tuesday.

Police are warning the public Ambler is possibly armed with a 45-caliber semi-automatic handgun and should be considered dangerous, according to a news release from the Lee County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities said anyone seeing Ambler should call 911 immediately.

Los Angeles, CA Government and Police Car Auctions

The people of Los Angeles, CA are becoming more and more interested in buying cars from government and police car auctions. These government auctions are viable means for middle class Americans to buy their favorite luxury cars. Though used cars are sold at these vehicle auctions, the popularity of the local auctions has increased because of the fact that cheap cars can be bought easily. Los Angeles, CA is the largest city in the state of California. It is one the US states where diversified population can be found.

The Los Angeles police auctions are local auctions in which only the locals can participate. If you live in Los Angeles, you have to enquire at your nearest police station about the car auctions. A number of cars are seized and repossessed by the police department everyday. Unclaimed cars are also stored in the vehicle garage. The police department has to maintain these cars and auctioning them at low prices is the only source of revenue for the police with these cars. The police auctions are not commercially advertised, as the department cannot afford the extra cost. The competition will be less in the local auctions and so, there are high chances that you drive away your favorite car from one of these auctions.

Various government departments such as fire services, hospitals, and military accumulate used cars and unclaimed cars. The government wants to sell these cars quickly and so, the starting price of cars in these auctions is very low. If the competition is less, you can even buy a luxury car at 10% of its actual market value. As people become aware of the government vehicle auctions, many Los Angeles residents prefer to buy their cars from these auctions.

Nowadays, government auctions are held as online auctions. In these online auctions, anyone who has a computer with internet connection can participate in the auction. Here also, the price of the cars will be low and you can buy cheap cars at the comfort of your home. You have to pay extra shipping charge if you want the car to be shipped to your residence. Before accepting the car purchased from online auctions, you must inspect the car.

Used car auctions and seized car auctions are also held as public auctions. When some auction company takes the responsibility of conducting these auctions, then you can find advertisements in local papers. New bidders have to watch the auction closely if the competition is fierce. If some big companies and institutions bid on the cars, it is better to stay away from bidding because these companies will be ready to pay anything to buy the cars from the live auctions.

When you decide to buy cheap cars from Los Angeles government auctions, you must do some homework to locate the auction sites with less competition. You have to take a mechanic along with you to know the worth of the car. Be ready to put aside some money for car repair though many of the cars sold in police auctions will be in good working condition.

Thinking of buying a used police car? Here’s how to do it

Back in college, I was the house and risk manager for my fraternity. As you can imagine, this was a stressful job, as I was forced to monitor not only the many idiotic whims of my brothers, but the potential impact those ideas had on our house.

My least-fond memory of those hazy years involved a brother who drove a retired police cruiser. He desperately wanted to be a cop and took to driving his blacked-out, push-bar-equipped Ford Crown Victoria like Martin Riggs from Lethal Weapon. While his typical days were spent terrorizing other motorists by suddenly appearing in their rearview mirrors, one day he decided to lead the campus police on a high-speed chase (as one does).

He got ahead of them, hid his car and ran into the fraternity house, breathlessly telling me he’d been there the whole time. The police arrived, having ran his plates and asking for him by his last name. which happened to be the same as my first name. Shockingly, neither he nor I were arrested that day (keep in mind, these were just campus police), but I’ve since become a firm believer that unless you want to start a second life as a taxi driver, you should not buy a used police car .

If you choose to ignore me, though, Yahoo! Autos has put together a smartly comprehensive buying guide. written by a dealer. that details the ins and outs of the police car buying process. It ranges from what sort of equipment you should bring to a city auction. to what kind of cars will go for the least money. It’s a rather interesting read and provides a glimpse into a market of automotive sales that nearly every enthusiast has thought about at least once.

Technology Helps Police Auction Car Buyers

In today’s economic tough times, more and more car buyers are looking at police auctions and online auctions for bargains in the used car market.

The huge majority of auction buyers report satisfaction with their cars when contacted 60 days after their purchase, but for some buyers their “good deal” turns into a nightmare.

Smart buyers avoid those nightmares by using technology to guard against unscrupulous sellers and public auction nightmares.

Armed with any sort of mobile browser, iPhone, laptop, etc. buyers can check a car’s history, determine its true market value and avoid making the mistakes that can ruin your chances of having a good auction experience.

With cars being stolen at a rate of one every 25 seconds, anyone considering buying a car at auction is concerned about the problem of buying a stolen car without knowing it and then running into trouble down the road.

There are two main strategies to avoid this problem. The first is to compare the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) in all three locations where it is found. The numbers should match and they can be found on the driver’s side dashboard, visible from the windshield, under the hood and on the driver’s side door jam.

If you’re buying the car online, you can ask for pictures of the VIN in all three locations. If you’re buying in person, you can easily check these numbers for yourself.

Armed with a verified VIN, smart buyers then use a title search company like AutoCheck to check the history of the car and make sure it has a clear title.

This is particularly important for Police Auction Car Buyers. Smart buyers are aware that police departments aren’t required to have clear title to the cars they impound and later sell at auction. If you’re not careful, you could end up watching your dream deal disappear down the road on the back of a car hauler as the rightful title holder reclaims it. You lose the car and the money you paid for it!

Once you’ve used your laptop or smart phone to go online and get an instant car history report, you will need to assess the car’s condition. This is obviously going to be limited in an online auction, but you can still use the history report to suggest problems with the car and ask the seller for pictures of specific areas of concern.

When evaluating a car in person, you can use the same tricks professional car buyers use to find hidden damage.

•    Look for clamp marks on the frame rails under the car. The clamp marks will be holes or gashes on the frame. They are the result of a damaged vehicle being clamped into place and then stretched on a frame straightening machine. It means the car has been in a serious collision.

•    Check the bolts used to fasten fenders, doors and the trunk lid to see whether the paint is broken or the bolts are turned, which could indicate the bolts were removed for body repairs to the vehicle.

•    Peel back the fabric that lines the trunk and look for welding marks or body filler, which may indicate that repairs were made on the body of the vehicle.

•    Look for indications the car has been repainted. Signs like finding a small inconsistency in color between body parts or finding paint on the molding or gaskets. If you run your finger along the inside of the door edge, the finish should be smooth. If it is rough, that may be caused by overspray from repainting. If you find signs of repainting, ask questions to see if you can determine if the paintwork was for minor scratches and dents or to cover up more serious damage.

•    Listen for engine noise when you test drive (or test start) the vehicle. Major accidents often cause engine damage.

•    Check to see if the doors, the hood, and the trunk lid all close properly. If they don’t, or if the edges don’t match well, this could indicate the use of replacement parts due to a major accident.

•    Check to make sure the odometer is working.

After carefully evaluating the condition of the car, smart buyers are turning to technology again to determine the car’s true value.

The Kelley Blue Book, the car industry standard for decades, runs an online service that will give you the value for just about any car you will encounter.

Values are divided into three classes:

Trade-In Value – Trade-in Value is what consumers can expect to receive from a dealer for a trade-in vehicle.

This is pretty much the bottom price you can expect to pay at a well publicized auction. This is the price the professional car buyers you’ll be competing against will be willing to bid up to (but not over) so be wise about this one and compare it to the Private Party Value,

Private Party Value – Private Party Value is what a buyer can expect to pay when buying a used car from a private party. This is the price you can expect to get for a car you’re selling to a private party.

It’s the difference between the Trade-In Value and the Private Party Value that represents a profit for the savvy auction buyer.

Suggested Retail Value – The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers’ asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer.

Each of these three values is based on the following vehicle condition definitions:

•    Looks new, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning.

•    Never had any paint or body work and is free of rust.

•    Clean title history and will pass a smog and safety inspection.

•    Engine compartment is clean, with no fluid leaks and is free of any wear or visible defects.

•    Complete and verifiable service records.

Less than 5% of all used vehicles fall into this category.

•    Free of any major defects.

•    Clean title history, the paints, body, and interior have only minor (if any) blemishes, and there are no major mechanical problems.

•    Little or no rust on this vehicle.

•    Tires match and have substantial tread wear left.

•    A “good” vehicle will need some reconditioning to be sold at retail.

Most consumer owned vehicles fall into this category.

•    Some mechanical or cosmetic defects and needs servicing but is still in reasonable running condition.

•    Clean title history, the paint, body and/or interior need work performed by a professional.

•    Tires may need to be replaced.

•    There may be some repairable rust damage.

•    Severe mechanical and/or cosmetic defects and is in poor running condition.

•    May have problems that cannot be readily fixed such as a damaged frame or a rusted-through body.

•    Branded title (salvage, flood, etc.) or unsubstantiated mileage.

Kelley Blue Book does not attempt to report a value on a “poor” vehicle because the value of these vehicles varies greatly. A vehicle in poor condition may require an independent appraisal to determine its value.

Armed with technology, smart buyers have a clear knowledge of the car’s title, condition, and true market value and they’re using that information to guarantee they get a great deal and avoid becoming one of the horror stories.

Kissimmee cop charged after hitting strip club employee’s car in parking lot

Privacy Policy

A Kissimmee police officer was charged after he slammed into an employee’s car in the parking lot of a Brevard County strip club and left the scene, records show.

Sgt. Bruce Connors, 36, was charged in early October with leaving the scene of a crash after ramming the car parked outside the Lido Cabaret in Cocoa Beach, records show.

He was relieved of duty 21 days later on Oct. 30 and placed on paid administrative leave. Connors, who joined the department in 2004, earns $66,000 a year.

The department has launched an internal affairs investigation of the incident. Police Chief Lee Massie declined comment.

Surveillance video of the crash shows an employee of the strip club dressed in a thong and corset running after Connors’ pickup moments after he hit rammed her 1965 Oldsmobile Cutlass sedan on Oct. 9 and sped away, records show.

Kissimmee Commissioner Art Otero involved in domestic disturbance

City Commissioner Arturo “Art” Otero was involved in a domestic disturbance a week ago after arguing with his wife outside a Kissimmee bar, police reports show.

A police report described Otero, who has announced he’s running for mayor next year, as intoxicated when he showed up at Kissimmee police.

The club already knew who he was and where he lived. A week earlier, Connors had been drinking there and left without paying his tab. The club has a policy that anyone running a tab must hand over a credit card and driver’s license until the bill is paid, according to officer manager Vanessa Castillo.

Castillo gave investigators a photo copy of Connors’ driver’s license that identified his home address as the Kissimmee Police Department.

Videos from the club’s surveillance cameras released by the Brevard-Seminole State Attorney’s Office show Connors and two friends walk out of the club shortly before the crash. Connors kicked off his sandals and began shadow boxing barefoot on the pavement.

After slipping his sandals back on, Connors dropped his keys and took a moment to retrieve them before opening the driver’s door of his truck. After sitting for about a minute, he put the pickup in gear and immediately struck the classic car parked next to him, the video shows.

The defendant struck the Oldsmobile, stopped, changed the direction of his front wheels, drove further continuing to strike, a Brevard County Sheriff’s investigator wrote after watching the video. The defendant stopped for a moment, then fled the scene.

That’s when Jessica Bruce, 27, the car’s owner and a bartender at the strip club, came out of the club and began running after Connors’ pickup which briefly stopped at an intersection before speeding away. The sheriff’s office described noticeable damage to the Cutlass’ front bumper, hood, driver’s side fender and wheel well.

Bruce could not be reached for comment.

Records state Connors was advised of his Miranda rights to remain silent and told the crash investigator he was driving. struck the vehicle that was next to him and he fled the scene.

In January, he received his agency’s employee-of-the-month award.

Connors has distinguished himself within the department by proving that he is a hardworking, strong leader and team player. His can-do attitude and willingness to help is second to none, records state. He is a true team player and great leader, who displays a high degree of dedication to his position and his department.

CORRECTION: A previous version of the story incorrectly identified Jessica Bruce’s job at the strip club. She is a bartender.

Police Departments by City

What is a Police Department?

A police department is a law enforcement branch of local government which provides security and crime control in the community. State and local police departments hire, train and manage police officers who are responsible for responding to reports of crimes and public emergencies including natural disasters. A police department is usually organized with a police chief as the leading official, and includes police officers, detectives, and sometimes also serves as jail guards in small communities.

In order to perform their jobs safely and effectively, the members of a police department are required to complete initial and ongoing training, including firearms safety, conflict management, and sometimes emergency health care or first response training as well.

In the case of an emergency call 9-1-1 immediately.

Can the Police Search My Car?

The Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution protects citizens against unreasonable searches. The amendment applies to government agents, like police officers. It does not apply to searches by private individuals. This protection extends to automobile searches, but it is not absolute. However, if a court finds that evidence was taken during an unlawful vehicle search, the court will not allow the prosecution to use that evidence.

Searches and Your Expectation of Privacy

A “search” can occur when a governmental agent intrudes in an area where you have a “reasonable expectation of privacy.” Deciding a “reasonable expectation of privacy” involves two questions. First, did you have an actual – meaning subjective or in your own mind – expectation of privacy? Second, would the subjective expectation of privacy be reasonable to an objective, uninvolved person?

Consent to Search

In certain situations, you may refuse to let a governmental agent search your vehicle. The agent is not required to inform you of your right to refuse. If you agree to the search, it must be voluntary – meaning you weren’t under pressure to comply. You also have the right to limit where the agent can search – the trunk but not the glove box, for example. You are free to change your mind at any time, even after the search has started.

Probable Cause to Search

A government agent with probable cause can search your car without you agreeing. Probable cause means a reason to believe the car more than likely contains evidence related to a crime. A routine traffic stop can develop into probable cause to search the vehicle. After pulling a car over for a traffic violation, a police officer might notice that the driver matches the description of someone suspected of stealing parts from automobiles. The officer also notices automobile parts in the back seat. These additional facts most likely create probable cause for the police officer to search the vehicle.

Search Incident to Lawful Arrest

When a police officer makes a lawful arrest, the officer may search not only the arrested person but also the area immediately around the arrested person – like the car the person was traveling in just before the arrest. However, this only applies if the person is arrested. If the driver is only given a traffic ticket, the police officer cannot search the vehicle. If a police officer has the choice to either issue a ticket or make an arrest, the officer must make the arrest in order to search the car.

A Criminal Lawyer Can Help

The law surrounding searches of vehicles is complicated. Plus, the facts of each case are unique. This article provides a brief, general introduction to the topic. For more detailed, specific information, please contact a criminal lawyer.

Pittsburgh provides a unique benefit for car buyers, especially over the next half decade.  This is because while the city of Pittsburgh had a growing surplus, they were able to increase the amount of new fleet vehicles, including police cars.  However, they did not immediately liquidate the cars that they had retired.  However, since the economy started to hit large cities hard across the country, Pittsburgh, PA (like many other large cities) has been selling fleet vehicles and ex police cars at a higher rate than before.  This has led to an excess supply, with no increase in demand.  Because of this, prices are currently lower than at any time in recent history.  Additionally, because there is a minimum bid or reserve price, if the car does not sell immediately, they will simply remain up for auction until someone makes a purchase.  That means that you will often be able to get a ex police car for sale in Pittsburgh, PA for no more than minimum bid.

As you can see, there are a number of benefits that you can gain from targeting an ex police car the next time that you need to buy a used car.  First, you can gain the benefits that are associated with ex police cars such as durability and long life spans.  Second, you can take advantage of the unique opportunity that the economy, both in surplus and deficit, have created specifically in Pittsburgh.  With all of these variables combined, it is no wonder that you can get a great deal on ex police cars for sale in Pittsburgh, PA.

Plastic Model Kit Scales typically range from 1:24 to 1:100; a 1:24-scale model is 1/24th of the size of the real object. Common scales are 1/24, 1/48, 1/72, and 1/100. Many of the same engineering skills go into producing scale models as into the manufacturing of actual items represented. Model kits fall into approximately five skill levels. Snap-together models provide the pieces with tiny tabs that fit in specially shaped holes. The next three levels are beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The level is described on the box containing the kit, and the kits become increasingly complicated with more steps in assembling and detailing the models. The most advanced kits are the customized kits that provide the model builder with a variety of styles and parts, enabling for the creation of a unique model.

Old police cars can come with all the trimmings

When a police car is retired and sold, it s supposed to be stripped of all decals, but not every car dealer follows the rules. Now a disturbing trend is popping up in Texas: civilians are purchasing cop cars and in some cases impersonating officers. VPC

Departments are concerned as they look for impostor who stopped, raped a woman last year.

Story Highlights

24 CONNECT TWEET 1 LINKEDIN 4 COMMENT EMAIL MORE

That’s disconcerting to law enforcement officials who are looking for an impersonator who pulled over and raped a woman in November in Carrollton, Texas. A similar crime was reported three weeks later in Denton, Texas, but the 23-year-old victim was able to fight off her assailant.

“Any time we have someone — not just in our city but in other cities — it’s concerning due to the fact that people trust the police,” said Officer Ryan Grelle, a Denton police spokesman.

Both impersonators drove what looked like unmarked police cars with flashing lights, their victims told police. Authorities aren’t saying whether the two crimes are related. Neither victim wanted to comment Tuesday.

Retired unmarked police cars have always been for sale online. But marked police cars — with their law enforcement equipment still inside — also are openly for sale, including a retired unit from Boyd, Texas.

“Wow, that one could be really dangerous,” Grelle said of the car’s advertisement. “It’s concerning because they could fall in the wrong hands.”

Boyd police recently retired that vehicle, police Chief Greg Arrington said. The McKinney, Texas, dealership that bought it was supposed to strip it of decals and equipment.

But someone advertised the car for sale on Craigslist “as is” for $5,700. The Crown Victoria that Boyd retired still had its exterior markings, police radios, radar equipment, its red and blue light bar, and prisoner cage in the back seat.

Another marked patrol car with a red and blue light bar and prisoner cage is for sale at a used car lot in Lewisville, Texas. The 8-year-old Crown Victoria is listed for less than $8,000.

I think there should be more provisions in the law that when cities do decommission these vehicles, they have to take certain steps to make sure they re not used unlawfully.

Pete Schulte, Dallas

Craigslist alone lists dozens of retired police cars in North Texas. Most are unmarked. Security guards buy some, smaller police departments do, too, but the problem is that the public can purchase one as well.

That 2006 Crown Victoria sits right outside the Lewisville dealership.

The owner asked a WFAA-TV reporter to leave when asked about the vehicle, but he did say he had sold a marked Dodge Charger police car for $11,000 on Craigslist. According to pictures of that vehicle on line, the black-and-white law enforcement car had a prisoner cage and exterior markings, but no light bar.

A lot of police departments strip their patrol cars of specialized law-enforcement equipment before selling them, but its removal is not a requirement in Texas.

Many states deal with the issue by restricting the type of lights and paint schemes a civilian vehicle can use. In others, law-enforcement agencies lease their vehicles and strip the equipment out themselves before returning them to the owner when the lease expires.

Dallas lawyer Pete Schulte, a former police officer, said lawmakers here should consider a closer look at what happens to retired cop cars.

“I think there should be more provisions in the law that when cities do decommission these vehicles, they have to take certain steps to make sure they’re not used unlawfully,” he said. Schulte points to the penal code for those marked cars, noting that even if the public legally can buy marked police cars, anyone caught driving them can still face a charge of false identification.

How to Find a Police Car Auction in Your Area

February 28, 2013

Finding a local police car auction in your area is sometimes tricky, if you have no idea where to start. There are ways to locate this information, but for areas where these type of auctions are not widely publicized it could be a case of calling your local police station and asking if they know.

Start your search for a used car

You can find some information online, on government websites which will let you search your area for a particular vehicle. These sites are not limited to cars, either. You can find SUVs, trucks and motorcycles on many of them too. Doing a ZIP code search and choosing a specific model will show you all the vehicles within a certain distance from you. Police specific auctions can be found by other websites like gov-auctions. which tells you when and where the local auctions will take place.

The General Service Administration is the biggest national sales agency and you can check out fleet sale cars and trucks on their website. Online versions of the auction can be located through the GovSales website. Finding former police cars for sale is down to how often those local auctions are held, but you can also try eBay Motors. Government car auctions are there in the motors section for you to search through. You can search by ZIP code, type of car, miles from your destination or make and model of the car you require.

The local police will sometimes put up leaflets or notifications of an impending auction being held. You can call your local government offices and find out how else you can locate an auction and if they have no information, at least they may be able to point you in the right direction.

Man who had been deported to Mexico five times charged in deadly L.A. car crash

Santos Duran talks about the loss of his daughter Sandra Duran, who was killed last month in an L.A. car crash. Estuardo Alvarado, who had been deported to Mexico five times, has been charged with murder, vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated in connection with the deadly accident, court records show.

Marisa Gerber and James Queally Contact Reporters

JoAnnie Duran was stopped at a red light when her sister’s fiance called. She struggled to make out most of his words, but finally two of them stuck: “Sandra’s dead.”

Duran pulled into a gas station parking lot and sobbed, but couldn’t bring herself to say the words out loud. She had Sandra’s 12-year-old son in the car with her. How could she possibly break it to him? And how could it be true? Her sister had called her just 20 minutes earlier to tease her about a video she’d posted on Facebook.

Even now, more than two weeks since her older sister’s death, she cannot accept the way it happened. Officials say a drunk driver ran a red light, smashing into Sandra’s car that Sunday morning — an hour or so after the sisters worshipped together at church.

The driver — who faces murder, vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated charges in connection with the Feb. 19 crash — is an immigrant in the country illegally who has been deported from the United States at least five times, according to police and court records.

Estuardo Alvarado, 45, was fleeing the scene of a traffic accident at a “high rate of speed” when he smashed his vehicle into a car driven by Sandra Duran, according to Det. William Bustos of the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division.

Duran, 42, suffered serious injuries and later died. The two other people in the car — her 18-year-old son, Christian, and his girlfriend — were treated for minor injuries. Alvarado was arrested after being transported to a hospital, Bustos said.

Alvarado has been removed from the U.S. and sent to Mexico five times since 1998, most recently in 2011, according to Virginia Kice, a spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The Mexican citizen has never held legal status in the U.S. according to a law enforcement official who was not authorized to discuss the case and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Duran’s death started to garner national attention on Tuesday morning when Fox News picked up a Los Angeles Daily News report about the crash, in which the victim’s sister expressed concern over Alvarado’s immigration status.

“It’s a great concern because this could have been prevented,” the victim’s sister, Los Angeles police Officer Lisa Morales, told the newspaper. “It’s sad and it’s unfortunate. It’s going to happen not just to my family but to other families.”

Seated in the living room of his Arleta home Tuesday morning, Santos Duran stared at a memorial of flowers, white candles and photos of his second-oldest daughter.

I often wonder, Why us?” he said, pausing to look toward heaven. “But I can accept it, because the man up there knows we’re all just passing through.”

He said he’s haunted by the thought that his daughter’s death was avoidable, knowing that Alvarado remained in the country given his criminal history. But he is also worried that his daughter’s death could be used as a political weapon against huge swaths of immigrants in the country illegally.

It’s ruined our life. This person had DUIs and deportations,” he said. “But whatever I say now isn’t going to bring my daughter back. I worry, I worry about the people that are here already and settled here already and have families already and have their kids in school. I worry for those people.

Sandra Duran’s mother, Carmen Duran, said she has a simple question for Alvarado about that Sunday morning:

“ ‘How come you didn’t stay home? You could’ve stayed home.’ Knowing he was drunk and driving, she said, sighing. It doesn’t have to be about immigration and all this. There are people who are from here and they go out and kill other people, too. It’s not only people from Mexico or anything like that. It just happened to be that he’s from Mexico. There’s different races ….

Her husband cut in to finish her thought:

… and we all make mistakes,” he said.

Santos Duran has forgiven Alvarado, but he said that beyond that he tries not to think about him much. This is a time, he said, to remember his daughter, who worked for insurer Health Net.

Sandra’s family members remember her as a doting mother and a vivacious presence in the home she shared with her parents and her sons, Christian, 18, and Jacob, 12. On weekends, Sandra — who found great joy in making her loved ones their favorite foods — woke up early to make her parents a breakfast of toast, sausage and scrambled eggs. Anytime her boys were hungry, even late at night, she made them their favorite meal: pancakes. She loved to surprise her fiance, Rodrigo Macias, with fresh brownies and every Thanksgiving she buttered the family’s turkey.

Her family members spent Tuesday watching old cell phone videos of Sandra. There was the one JoAnnie filmed on Thanksgiving, when everybody had their eyes closed during a prayer, until the camera cut to Sandra. Ever the performer, she sensed the spotlight on her and struck a pose. In another video filmed on her brother’s birthday, Sandra twirled her hair and broke out in a deep belly laugh.

Santos Duran closed his eyes for a moment. “That’s her laugh,” he said, mournfully.

Alvarado, who remains jailed in lieu of $2.1-million bail, has been arrested several times in Los Angeles, according to court records. He pleaded no contest to resisting arrest and impeding traffic in 2011, and pleaded no contest to separate charges of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license in the 1990s, court records show. He has also been cited for marijuana possession twice, records show.

His next court date is scheduled for March 14.

The case marks the latest in a series of deaths that officials attribute to immigrants in the country illegally. Though studies have found that immigrants, whether in the country legally or not, commit crimes at lower rates than native born Americans, the killings have become a flashpoint in the national debate over so-called “sanctuary cities” and immigration enforcement policies.

The 2015 shooting death of Kathryn Steinle in San Francisco drew national outrage when it was revealed that her accused killer had been deported from the U.S. five times. President Trump has promised to revoke federal funding from cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles whose governments have refused to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement actions.

The relatives of three Californians who authorities say were killed by immigrants here illegally were Trump’s guests during a speech delivered to Congress last week.

During the speech, the president chastised opponents of his hard-line immigration stance, asking them what they would say to a family who “loses their jobs, their income or a loved one because America refused to uphold its laws and defend its borders?”

For the Duran family, the focus remains on Sandra.

Someone visits the cemetery every day, her father said. To remind her that she’s loved, they show up with cupcakes or with fries and hamburgers from In-N-Out — her favorite foods.

Death of man near Pagoda investigated as homicide

Man dies after attack near Pagoda in.

READING, Pa. – The death of a Berks County man near the Pagoda is being investigated as a case of homicide, law enforcement authorities announced Thursday afternoon.

Donavin Yenser died Thursday morning. He had been hospitalized since early Tuesday morning, when Reading police found the Exeter Township man bleeding off Duryea Drive near the Pagoda atop Mount Penn.

That was his hangout spot, said his mom, Kristina Miller. His friends were there. They were there all the time.

RPD officers had responded to the area for the report of a group of people assaulting a man.

They just brutally beat him with objects to the head and threw him over the guardrail and left him for dead, said Yenser s aunt, Amanda Kohler.

I can t believe anyone would do this to him, and I don t know why they had to, said Gary Kohler, Yenser s grandfather. I just hope they catch these guys.

Investigators have not determined whether Yenser s death was the result of the assault or the fall down an embankment to where he was found.

Police have also not provided any details about what led to the assault, but they did tell 69 News that they are reviewing video recorded by surveillance cameras at the Pagoda.

To my understanding, Miller said, he was in a car. They broke the windows, pulled him out of the car and beat him.

One of the three friends Yenser was with atop Mount Penn told 69 News he wishes he could have done more to help.

We saw him being pushed over the guardrail in front of us, said the friend, who did not want to give his name. That s when I yelled for him to run down to the next street, where we would pick him up. We drove down and he never made it. He was laying over the top of a rock, bleeding from the back of his head.

Yenser was rushed to the trauma center at Reading Hospital, where he later died, but not before his mother got to spend Wednesday night by his side in the hospital.

The nurses let me lay in bed with Donavin, his mom said. That was the best ending I could ve had with him, just holding him and loving him.

She said she won t take down her Christmas tree this year. Decorating it with him this past Sunday is the last memory she has with her only son.

Yenser worked the past five baseball seasons as a concessions employee for the Reading Fightin Phils, the team confirmed Thursday.

He s 18. He had his whole life ahead of him, Kohler said. He donated his organs, which makes us feel better to know that he s going to live on and help other lives.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral costs.

The service is set for Saturday, December 17, in Leesport.

Anyone with information about the case can contact Crime Alert Berks County via anonymous text to 847411. starting the message with keyword alertberks. or by calling 877-373-9913 .

Looking for a Police Car?

Home of the NightStalker. Ford Crown Victoria P71s Police Interceptors are our specialty. For over 12 years we have been Central Florida’s #1 source for retired Police cars. We are fully licensed and bonded dealers. Most our customers tell us after they spent days or even weeks searching. Our cars are the cleanest and best you will find. We take our time with each and every vehicle and go beyond just detailing the cars like the other guys. Go look for youself. We hand pick and know each car personally. We know what has been done, what it has and where its from. Our vehicles come directly from the government, there are no other previous owners and all come from Florida 100% rust free. The cars leave here with no mechanical issues. We only get vehicles from agencies with the best fleet maintenance programs. These cars where always fleet maintained meaning EVERY maintenance it needed was done. These cars see a better service life than privately owned cars will ever see.

Our Nighstalkers get a 100% full reconditioning. We take our time deciding what the car will look like finished. We completely clean, and sanitize the interiors with most surfaces being new material. The exteriors look as close to factory as we can get them if not better. They are ALWAYS fully repainted. The other guys leave the factory stuff on and it is 99% of the time scuffed, scratched or has “ghost lines” from the previous agencies stickers which you can never get rid of. That is why ours get a Full PROFESSIONAL paint job. This is no econo type paint. We’ve used the same guy for 12 years and he does amazing work. Ours have no mechanical issues, where always fleet maintained meaning EVERY maintenance it needed was done.

While we sell to the public, we also cater to Agencies both Government and Security. We will NEVER outfit a vehicle destined for civilian use with RED/BLUE lighting or sirens so please do not ask.

Come down for yourself and you be the judge.

We are experts in Ford Crown Victorias and there are no questions we cannot answer.

We’re the only company in the country dedicated to designing and building a Crown Vic Interceptor to your desired look and taste. Mild to wild, just tell us what you want and we’ll make your dream come true.

We only sell the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor as no other used police vehicle comes anywhere close to the performance, safety, longevity and comfort that Ford builds into these impressive vehicles.

It’s no wonder that used policecars are highly sought after by security firms, detective agencies, bounty hunters and even police agencies when their budget does not allow for a new vehicle and they need a few more units. And yes, anyone can purchase a used P71 Interceptor for their personal use.

I am extremely proud of the Crown Victoria Police Interceptors that we offer here at Rich Troppoli Automotive Center. I have over 38 years of pleasing customers with unparalleled experience in the automotive industry.I have now directed all my efforts to the reconditioning and refurbishment of previously owned Police Interceptors. Every car we work on is a custom build. We don’t mass produce, but concentrate on each car, one at a time. Every car is different with different needs and all of those items, and then some, are dealt with by top ASE certified mechanics. Our bodymen are second to none in restoring the body back to new condition. The upholstery shop does undetectable work.We sweat the details like no other company, making sure the tiniest hole or slightest rip is repaired or replaced. Our bodies are straight and free of antenna holes and defects. We always replace all the lights to give the vehicle a new look. Everything on the exterior (and interior as needed) gets refinished, including the wheels and engine bay. The cars look new when we finish them. We’ve been told we look like a new Ford dealership! I personally get involved in each car before, during and after the process. All cars are given a 75 mile road test at all speeds when completed to make sure there are no defects.

I can say with confidence that no one on the web is putting as much into their used police cars as we are.

You can buy a used police car from us with the peace of mind that you are getting a road ready Interceptor that will give you 100 to 200 thousand more miles of service. We have delighted customers from all over the US who have ordered our vehicles over the phone only to call me on delivery to praise our work.

We work on a zero fail basis with each and every car.Nothing leaves here until it’s right and I’m 100% happy with it.

All of our Interceptors are sold on a custom order basis. We prefer not to keep an inventory as evryone wants their car to reflect their personal taste in color, options and overall look.

It starts with you picking out the year and miles and basic interior color. Then we discuss what color you want the vehicle and other options you may like to have. Once we have designed a car for you, we have the car brought into our facility fromВ  state or municipalВ auctions that we attend daily. Almost all cars come from theВ South or Mid West.В Then the car is reconditioned to your specs down to the last detail. Our way of doing business is gettingВ very popular with our customers who don’t want to “settle” for “car lot”, as is Interceptors

We are located in Central New Jersey and ship to all states at a discounted rate. All vehicle transport companiesВ are bonded and insured and seleccted by Rich Troppoli personally.

So if you are looking for a Crown Victoria Police Interceptor reconditioned by people with a passion for the car, look no further and call today!

Garfield Police charge driver of vehicle that dropped into Saddle River

photo/Nick messina

A vehicle in the Saddle River in Garfield on Nov. 17. The driver of the vehicle faces a number of charges.

The driver of a car that drove off the road and into the Saddle River, surviving a 20-foot drop into the water, has been identified and charged with driving under the influence.

Police charged Rafal Olender, 35, of Lyndhurst, with driving under the influence, driving under the influence in a school zone, careless driving, reckless driving and driving while his driver’s license and registration were suspended.

Olender was driving a Ford Explorer on Nov. 17 when he drove off the road and into the Saddle River in Garfield. According to the police report, Olender was on River Drive when he accelerated and spun the tires for approximately 25 feet leaving “heavy rubber marks on the blacktop.” Olender then continued west through a parking lot at a “high rate of speed,” turned left around the Quik Check, continued traveling south and drove up a landscaped embankment, through a chain link fence and dropped down 20 feet into the Saddle River where the car landed upside down.

Reports came in of the car crash at Midland Avenue and River Drive where the vehicle went into the river around 4 p.m.

Garfield Sgt. Michael Marsh and Officer Christopher Strabone were at police headquarters and responded to the scene. While they were on their way patrol units confirmed a car in the Saddle River overturned with entrapment.

On scene, Marsh saw the car upside down with several civilians in the water near the vehicle. The officers put on water rescue gear and secured a rope to the bridge wall to lower equipment down.

When Marsh ascended the river bank and entered the water he was met by off-duty Emergency Service Unit (ESU) Police Department Officer Robert Meehan and off-duty Garfield volunteer firefighter Patrick Ducey who had entered the water. They were holding the driver’s head above water with the help from a civilian.

“The water level had the interior of the car almost completely submerged,” Marsh said. “His body was underwater. If no one helped him it would have been a problem.”

All the civilians were removed to the river bank for their safety. Police retrieved a backboard and stokes basket. Police were then able to extricate the driver from the car and place him on a backboard.

The driver was removed from the water and stabilized where ESU and arriving fire department personnel removed him from the riverbank and turned him over to EMS, according to Marsh.

At that time, Ducey and Meehan were removed from the water and turned over to EMS for evaluation. No injuries were reported.

Marsh and Strabone assisted with water rescue and members from the Garfield and Wallington fire departments conducted a secondary search of the car and surrounding river to ensure there were no other victims. It was confirmed that no one else was in the river.

Olender was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for further medical treatment.

Marsh and Strabone then deployed hazardous materials booms across the Saddle River to contain the runoff leaking from the car’s engine. Then they assisted members of Fire Company 3 and the city tower with hooking up the car for the lift out of the river.

Just to show how important attending these events is to the club and our chosen charity the NPDMF, apart from showing our great vehicles off, is the money we make for both. Geoff our chairman has just sent me the totals for our stand at the Lancashire Constabulary Open Days over the weekend 3rd to 4th of October 2015. Sales of club merchandise came to ВЈ1049 and sales of badges for the NPDMF came to ВЈ381. A magnificent effort by any standard. Well done to the gents responsible for selling the items, grand job guys.
