Auto Dealer Job Overview

An auto dealer is someone who works at a new or used car dealership and sells vehicles to prospective buyers. In some cases, an auto dealer is the owner of the dealership as a whole, but in many cases he or she is a manager working for the owner. Daily responsibilities of an auto dealer might include inspecting and cleaning vehicles, meeting with customers, going on test drives or explaining financing to potential buyers.

Auto Dealer Education Requirements

In order to successfully run an automobile dealership, or to be hired in a management sales position within the dealership, a bachelor’s degree will typically be necessary. While there is no licensing or registration needed in order to legally sell vehicles within a dealership, those who want to become dealers will have a much better chance of getting hired if they studied sales, marketing, advertising or business administration. Other skills that will be helpful for this position include being able to communicate well, critical thinking and the ability to push certain products and encourage potential buyers to complete a sale.

Auto Dealer Job Market

Predicted growth for the job market of sales managers in auto dealerships is at an estimated eight percent between now and 2020. This is a significant amount of growth, and it should be encouraging to anyone planning to work in sales at an auto dealership or in a position like that of car sales executive. sales advisor or new car sales consultant .

Auto Dealer Salary

The median salary for the manager of an auto dealership is $117,740 annually. However, salaries vary depending on whether the employee is a manager or a salesperson on the floor. In the automobile sales industry, it is also important to remember that commission, which is not always included in salary, can be significant over the course of the year.

JPMorgan Chase Yanks Ads From NBC News Over Megyn Kelly s Alex Jones Interview: Gothamist, job ads nyc.#Job #ads #nyc

JPMorgan Chase Yanks Ads From NBC News Over Megyn Kelly’s Alex Jones Interview

Growing outrage from Sandy Hook massacre victims’ families has prompted JPMorgan Chase to remove its ads from NBC News’ new Megyn Kelly interview program because of Kelly’s interview with controversial conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. Jones has claimed that the mass shooting, which left 20 children and six adults dead, was faked.

Victims’ families are upset that Kelly is giving Jones a platform to further promote his baseless skepticism of the Sandy Hook massacre.

Megyn Kelly interviews Alex Jones Sunday, June 18 at 7/6c during Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly on NBC.

In the interview, Jones talks about how “9/11 was an inside job, but when I say inside job it means criminal elements in our government working with Saudi Arabia and others, wanting to frame Iraq for it.” Regarding the Sandy Hook massacre, Jones’s remarks are more confusing: “Well, Sandy Hook s complex because I have had debates where, we devil s advocates have said the whole story is true, and then I have had debates where I have said, that none of it is true.”

The mother of six-year-old Ana Grace MГЎrquez-Greene Tweeted at Kelly:

Here you go @megynkelly – her name is Ana Grace MГЎrquez-Greene. Say her name- stare at this tell me it s worth it. @nbc #SandyHook

And the chief marketing officer of JPMorgan Chase, Kristin Lemkau, Tweeted on Monday morning:

As an advertiser, I m repulsed that @megynkelly would give a second of airtime to someone who says Sandy Hook and Aurora are hoaxes. Why?

According to the Wall Street Journal, “JP Morgan Chase has asked for its local TV ads and digital ads to be removed from Ms. Kelly s show and from all NBC news programming until after the show airs, according to a person familiar with the matter. The company doesn t want any of its ads to appear adjacent to any promotions for the interview, the person added.”

But Ana Grace MГЎrquez-Greene’s mother, Nelba MГЎrquez-Greene, Tweeted, “To give a man like this such a platform normalizes behavior that isn t normal. How do I explain this to my son?”

Because this is what it looks like when you shine light on #AlexJones – they don t go away. They double down @megynkelly . #SandyHook

The family of Victoria Soto, a teacher who was killed while trying to protect children, posted a message to NBC and Kelly on Facebook: We would like it to be publicly known that we are greatly disappointed in your decision to give Alex Jones airtime. Alex and his followers have done nothing but make our lives a living hell for the last 4 1/2 years. Every family picture has been stolen, dissected, & analyzed with complete falsehoods. Our friends have even had their pictures stolen and have been harassed by these Sandy Hook hoaxers. One of his followers, Matthew Mills, showed up at Vicki’s race, disrupted the race, harassed our family and was ultimately arrested. You can find videos online of Mills and Jones directly interacting.

This incessant need for ratings at the cost of the emotional well-being of our family is disgusting and disappointing. You should be ashamed of yourselves for allowing this behavior. We hope you never are subjected to the kind of torture that Alex Jones and his followers inflict on us. Mills also crashed a Super Bowl press conference to say that 9/11 was a conspiracy.

Sandy Hook Promise, a nonprofit which describes itself as “[building] a national movement of parents, schools and community organizations engaged and empowered to deliver gun violence prevention programs and mobilize for the passage of sensible state and national policy,” has asked Kelly to drop out as the host for their annual gala.

Jones himself wants Kelly to pull the interview, for different reasons: “Megyn Kelly lied to me several weeks before she came here, and she said the interview was not going to be about Sandy Hook and the mass shooting there.” He also said that he now believes children did die, but doesn’t really “know what happened.”

Kelly’s show, Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly, will air at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 18th.

Update: Kelly has released a statement about Sandy Hook Promise’s decision, adding that she does find Jones’ conspiracy theories “personally revolting”:

Human Resource Clerk: Job Description, Duties and Requirements #human #resource #clerk: #job #description, #duties #and #requirements

Human Resource Clerk: Job Description, Duties and Requirements

Human Resource Clerk Job Description

Human resource clerks, also called human resource assistants, help compile and maintain employee records for a company or organization. Assistants typically aid with the daily administrative operations of the human resource department and interact with employees, management and other business associates. Knowledge of company and legal employment policies, office procedures and customer service standards typically is essential for those working in a human resource department.

Job Duties of a Human Resource Clerk

The responsibilities of a human resource assistant can vary depending on the size of the organization. Large corporations may have tiered human resource positions, with entry-level assistants processing paperwork or updating employee information, while more advanced workers manage job descriptions, perform accounting tasks or review benefits. In contrast, small to mid-sized companies might demand more of human resource assistants and clerks. Responsibilities may include:

  • Maintaining employee records
  • Presenting benefits packages
  • Interviewing new employees, checking references and organizing background checks
  • Providing policy training

Employment Outlook and Salary Info

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that human resources assistants earned a median annual wage of $38,100 as of May 2015. The number of working assistants in this field was expected to decrease by about 4% between 2014 and 2024.

Education and Skill Requirements for Human Resource Clerks

Many companies require that a human resource assistant have a high school diploma or equivalent, though some may seek college graduates with an associate or bachelor’s degree in human resource management. Employers might offer job training to those who are new to the field, though many prefer those with previous experience in business and human resources.

Familiarity with computers and office procedures is typically necessary, including an understanding of word processing and spreadsheet software. Some organizations may request knowledge of bookkeeping, training or pre-employment screening. Written and verbal communication is an essential skill since clerks are often key points of contact for employees and other companies. Likewise, decision-making and conflict management abilities are often useful in a human resource position.

Formal Training and Certification

Adequate training and an understanding of employment laws and regulations are vital to a human resource assistant. Several community colleges, universities and organizations offer professional training in the field. Clerks and assistants with two or more years’ experience qualify to earn optional certification through the HR Certification Institute, providing an opportunity to demonstrate sufficient knowledge and skills in employee policies and office management. Certification is valid for three years and can be maintained through continuing education classes, work experience and professional organization membership.

Human resource clerks may find positions with only a high school diploma, but many employers require an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. Certification is available for this position after gaining experience in the workforce. Those in this position can expect a median annual salary around $38,000.

Refresher programs help nurses return to work

Are you ready to return to nursing after some time away, but feel you need to brush up on your skills before treating patients again? Many registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) are finding the education and support they need to reenter nursing by enrolling in a refresher program.

Offered through colleges and hospitals, nurse refresher programs are designed for RNs and LPNs who have been out of the field for at least three years. Whether your current nursing license is inactive or lapsed, your state board of nursing requires you to take a nurse refresher course to return to active status.

There tends to be a lot of anxiety among nurses reentering the field, says Scott Gross, director of Science Technology and Professional Programs at Cal State San Marcos Extended Studies, which offers a 10-week RN refresher certificate. They are returning to a different world where many of their duties, such as dispensing medications and charting, are now computerized.

For Sue Kuhns, who had been out of nursing for 14 years, the San Marcos refresher program, which combines classroom instruction with a clinical practicum, was a chance to renew her skills and reconnect with other nurses.

We went through the program in a cohort group and supported each other every step of the way, says Kuhns, who worked as a nurse for 11 years before taking time off to raise her children.

The San Marcos program costs $2,399. Gross says the college and a local hospital are working out an agreement whereby the hospital will cover half the program expenses of students who accept jobs at the hospital. Students now meet tuition costs by taking out student loans or by using tuition reimbursement offered by their current employers. Other students use signing bonuses to recoup tuition costs.

The University of Delaware and South Carolina s Beaufort Memorial Hospital are two examples of colleges that allows students to take RN refresher courses from home, with the latter offering a four-month online refresher course for both RNs and LPNs.

    Refreshers as recruitment tools

Like other medical centers across the country, Maui Memorial Medical Center uses a refresher program to help recruit and retain RNs and LPNs. The weeklong program, which was open to any nurse in the area, included training in wound care, respiratory and vascular therapies, infection control, pain management, dialysis patient care and documentation.

The medical part of nursing stays the same but the equipment, medications and therapies change every couple of years, says Marianne Vasquez, RN, BSN, MEd, CDE, the facility s clinical education coordinator.

As part of the program, the hospital set up various skill stations where nurses learned how to use new equipment. Vasquez says nurses gave the program, which cost $300 to attend, such high marks that the hospital is planning to offer the training again next year.

    Ready for a refresh?

Here are some tips for finding a nurse refresher program:

    • Check with local nursing association chapters and your state board of nursing. As a state government agency, the board of nursing regulates the state s Nurse Practice Act, determines the requirements necessary to maintain active status and approves nurse refresher courses.
    • Contact state and community colleges.
    • Call area hospitals to see if they offer or can recommend a refresher program.

    Nursing Degrees Job Outlook

By the year 2014 – just eight years away – there will be 3.6 million new jobs available in the medical profession, and the bulk of those jobs – about 60% of them – will be open to those with nursing degrees of one kind or another. The demand for registered nurses is highest – the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that the number of jobs available for registered nurses will rise by 27% by 2014 – but there will also be increased opportunities for certified nursing assistants, licensed practical nurses, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants and those in medical technical fields like phlebotomy and pulmonology.

And if you thought that the only jobs available for nurses were in hospitals and medical facilities, the Bureau of Labor Statistics has more news for you. Less than 60% of registered nurses work in a hospital. A nursing degree opens doors of opportunity into so many fields that it’s easily one of the most versatile and useful degrees that you can acquire. Not only that – a nursing degree appeals to a wide range of people. According to the BLS, about 20% of those entering the nursing workforce are older workers starting on a second career. Many of them have been attracted by rising salaries triggered by the nursing shortage, but for many of them, a nursing degree is a chance to do something that makes them feel good.

Whether you’ve just started your nursing career, are returning to work after a hiatus, or are switching to a career in nursing as a second career, take a look at some of the opportunities that are open to you with a nursing degree.

Pediatric Home Health Care is one of the growing fields for those with nursing degrees. Every state in the Union now has some sort of Early Intervention program that identifies children under the age of three years with special needs. Pediatric home health care gives you the opportunity to work with children and parents and make a real difference in their lives.

Elder Home Health Care is the other end of the spectrum. The ‘aging of America’ means that more and more people require a little bit of help to remain in their homes. Nursing assistants, registered nurses and licensed nurses can provide that little bit extra that will allow a senior citizen to maintain a higher quality of life and remain at home when all they need is a few hours of medical care a day or week.

Working in a Blood Donor Center is an option that makes you part of the life-saving network. There’s more to blood donor centers than just starting IVs. Nurses who specialize in pharesis can command high salaries, and a nurse working in the blood collection field can be a valuable community organizer as well as a medical practitioner.

A Critical Care Transport nurse requires multiple nursing degrees, but it can be one of the most interesting and fascinating nursing jobs available. A CCT nurse accompanies patients being transported from home or a nursing facility to another nursing facility. The nurse is responsible for maintaining continuity of care for every patient – in the back of an ambulance. It’s a challenging and fun job that commands a salary commensurate with the experience required.

On Site Nursing is a wide open field for medical workers with nursing degrees. You can work at an amusement park or zoo, or in the medical office at a state or national park, or provide medical backup for the emergency workers at a beach or other recreational setting. If you choose to work on site at a camp or other facility, your benefits may include free tuition for your own family.

How to Touch Up Your Car’s Paint Job

Touching up a small scratch on your car with a little bottle of touch-up paint is easy. Before you start the job, mask the surrounding area well and use even, sweeping strokes to apply the paint. (Follow the directions on the can carefully.)

The techniques used to paint the body of a vehicle can vary depending on the size of the area you re working on and the original paint and finish. Unless you have an experienced and steady hand (and the car s original paint hasn t faded or changed color since it was new), it s almost impossible to conceal the fact that you repainted anything larger than a small area. Larger areas require spray-painting, which must be done in a well-ventilated area that s free from dust and dirt. So if the area you need to paint is large, it will probably cost you less in time, money, and effort to have the job done by a professional who can match the paint and do the job right.

If you want a cheap but decent job that will last a year or so, find out where local car dealers take the used cars they get as trade-ins to have them spiffed up before resale. To save money, you can remove any rust, spot-fill, and paint the small areas yourself, and then have the rest of the job done professionally.

Practice on a piece of scrap metal before you tackle the car, and don t expect the results to look terrific. Follow these steps:

    Buy the right paint color.

Look on the firewall of your vehicle you should see a little plate with the body number and paint code number on it.

Touch-up bottles of paint usually come with a brush or applicator in them. You also need a small bottle of primer unless the paint specifies that it isn t required.

Make sure that the area is rust-free.

If the damage is only a deep scratch or a tiny spot, you may need just a dab of rust arrestor to stop the rust from continuing to form under the new paint.

    Sand the spot carefully.

Use a small piece of #220 sandpaper to rough up the surface so that the primer adheres properly.

    Wash the area thoroughly.

Remove any rust arrestor, dust, dirt, filler residue, and wax; then let the area dry completely before you apply the primer. Primer is used to seal a metal surface against rust and to provide a surface for the paint to adhere to. Primer also fills in tiny holes and imperfections in the surface.

If you re dealing with a surface scratch or a chip that isn t down to the bare metal, you can probably get away with simply applying the paint. But never apply paint to bare metal or plastic. If a bare spot is exposed, or if the spot is larger than a fraction of an inch, prime the area first.

Use a tiny brush or a matchstick to apply the primer sparingly.

You shouldn t need more than a drop to cover the damaged area. Avoid getting primer on the original paint. If you do, wipe it off immediately. Let the primer dry thoroughly before moving on to the next step.

Mix the paint in the touch-up bottle.

Unless your vehicle is very new, the color probably won t match exactly (which is another reason for keeping the area as small as possible). The paint on new models doesn t fade as quickly or badly as old paints did.

Apply the paint, covering the surface of the spot completely and working inward from the edges.

If you re painting a scratch or a very small area, you can cut down the brush or use a matchstick or toothpick instead. The paint should be no thicker than the surrounding surface or it will show, run, bubble, or peel off.

Wait several days for everything to dry completely.

Wax and polish the whole vehicle to blend in the painted area and bring everything to a high gloss.
