LEMON DRINK for your Master Cleanse
you need:
* 2 tablespoons FRESH squeezed lemon or lime juice (approx. 1/2 lemon)
* 2 tablespoons genuine organic maple syrup, Grade B (the darker the better)*
* 1/10 teaspoon (a small pinch!) cayenne pepper, gradually increase (the more

* 300 – 500 ccm (10-14 oz) pure water
In a 300ccm (10-ounce) glass (to allow for 227ccm and mixing room): 2 tablespoons fresh (and organic, if possible) lemon or lime juice (absolutely no canned or frozen juice). 2 tablespoons real (and organic, if possible) grade B or C maple syrup. (Don’t use Grade A maple syrup or maple-flavored syrup. They are over-refined, which means that they are mostly refined sugars and lack essential minerals.) A small pinch of cayenne pepper (to taste). Spring or purified water, between room temperature and medium hot (but not cold) � fill to 1/4 liter (8 oz). Mix all the ingredients by thoroughly stirring or shaking, and drink. Or, in two 1 liter bottles: Juice of 3 lemons, divided equally between the two bottles (about 85ccm or 3 oz per bottle) An equal quantity of grade B or C maple syrup in each bottle (about 85 ccm or 3 oz per bottle) A pinch of cayenne in each bottle Spring or purified water (fill bottles to the top) Mix all the ingredients by thoroughly shaking; then drink throughout the day. Use fresh lemons or limes only, never canned or frozen lemon juice. Use organic and vine ripened when possible. Also, mix your lemonade fresh just before drinking. Don’t mix it up in the morning for the whole day. You can, however, squeeze your lemons in the morning and measure out the 2 tablespoons when needed.

* YL Clinic says you can use Agave instead of the maple syrup. Tom Woloshyn (who studied with Stanley Burroughs himself) disagrees. Clinic says if you have diabetes or hypoglycemia, use molasses. If you feel weak or have a sugar imbalance you can add a scoop of Power Meal. Or you can try Master Amino Acid Profile (MAP) for protein without any residuals or strain on the body.

SALT WATER FLUSH:
Drink an oral salt water enema upon arising. To do this, add 2 level teaspoons of uniodized sea salt to a quart of lukewarm water (the one-quart juice bottles in which most organic juices come work very well). Shake well, then drink the entire quart. It’s also good to massage the colon as well. Make sure you use uniodized sea salt; regular or iodized salt will not have the same beneficial effect. This oral enema will flush out your entire digestive tract and colon from top to bottom, usually within an hour, prompting you to eliminate several times, clearing out the plaque and debris from the walls, and the parasites that have been living there.

Lemonade Drink:
Drink the lemonade mix every 1 to 2 hours. Take no other food, but do be sure to drink plenty of purified water in addition to the lemonade drink. Drink as much of this lemonade as you want, but make sure that you drink at least twelve 1/4 liter (8 oz) glasses. The lemonade contains all the vitamins and minerals you need. This can be combined with supplements for colon cleansing such as Bentonite or Psyllium Seeds. You don’t have to start your fast on the morning of the first day. You can begin later in the day, even if you’ve already eaten. Once you begin, however, eat nothing more while you’re on the fast. It’s also a good idea to read Stanley Burrough’s book, The Master Cleanser. Note: Diabetics, refer to the special instructions on page 19 of The Master Cleanser.

Note: Bentonite is the only product known to remove plaque from the walls of the intestine and colon. The plaque in your stool will look like egg shells on the outside of the bentonite “gel.” Bentonite works most effectively when the colon is empty of food. It grabs the plaque which has been loosened by the lemon juice and the resting/fasting process. The salt water enema pushes out the bentonite gel and the plaque and debris that is stuck to it and in it. The salt water further cleanses the walls as it passes through, resulting in shiny clean walls.

Herbal Laxative:
Each evening you can drink an herbal laxative tea to help with elimination, do this right before bed time.

GOING OFF LEMONADE FAST
Burroughs recommends a minimum of 10 days on this. You can safely do 40 days or more.
First Day: Start with 4 oz. [1/8 liter] fresh squeezed orange juice mixed with 4 oz. water. If it goes well, drink several more 8 oz. [1/4 liter] glasses of fresh orange juice during the day. Sip slowly. Dilute with water if needed.
Second Day: Drink several 8 oz. [1/4 liter] glasses of orange juice during the day — with extra water, if needed.

In the evening make a vegetable broth (no canned soup). Use seasonal leafy and root vegetables such as: beets and beet tops, turnips and turnip greens, kale, carrots, onions, parsley, celery, potatoes, okra, one or two inds of legumes, squash, beans, a little salt, cayenne pepper and dehydrated vegetables or veg. powder may be added for flavor (no MSG or hydrolyzed protein).
Cook lightly. Drink the broth, eating only a few bites of the vegetables.
Third Day: Orange juice in the morning. At noon have some more soup with some of the vegetables. No meat, fish, eggs, bread, pastries, tea, milk, or coffee. For Dinner, have the vegetables in the soup.
Fourth Day: Orange juice or lemon and maple syrup in the morning. Fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts for lunch. Salad or fruit for dinner.
Fifth Day: Eat normally but no junk food, dairy, tea, coffee, white flour or white rice, heavy animal proteins. If, after eating is resumed, distress or gas occurs, go back to the lemonade diet for a few days until the system is ready for food.

This CAHIM accredited degree program is designed to provide students with the technical expertise in management of health information contained both in paper and electronic formats. The student will obtain knowledge and skills to perform job functions in medical records, medical coding, medical billing and other information-based areas in both the hospital and outpatient settings. The roles commonly filled by a registered health information technician (RHIT) include: cancer (or other disease) registrar, clinical coder/compliance auditor/vocabulary specialist, clinical data collection and reporting specialist, data integrity specialist, document imaging coordinator, information access/disclosure specialist, quality improvement specialist, reimbursement specialist/financial services liaison, and instructor/trainer.

Upon completion students are eligible to sit for the Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) exam provided by the American Health Information Management Association.

The Body Clock: Eating Schedule Is Equally Important As Sleep Cycle For Maintaining Rhythm

Planning out healthy meals throughout the day is a luxury some of us cannot afford. More and more people are skipping meals, eating outside the home, on the go, later in the day, and more irregularly due to more shift work and social jetlag — when someone has different sleeping patterns on weekends and weekdays. It would be nice to have a flexible meal schedule and healthy food on hand, but what’s more important in the long run: what we eat or when we eat it?

In two separate papers published in the Proceedings of the Nutrition Society. researchers from King’s College London, Newcastle University, University of Surrey, and Nestlé Research Centre examine how our metabolic processes can alter or influence our internal clock when the timing, size, and quality of our meals start to go haywire.

“Whilst we have a much better understanding today of what we should be eating, we are still left with the question as to which meal should provide us with the most energy,” said Dr. Gerda Pot, Visiting Lecturer in the Diabetes and Nutritional Sciences Division at King’s College London, in a statement .

Shift Work

Pot and her colleagues combined data from a number of dietary studies with global differences in eating habits. Studies continually show how shift workers face an increased risk for Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Alternating between irregular and around-the-clock shifts cause a disruption in our circadian rhythm, and appetite, digestion, and metabolic processes are highly dependent on its 24-hour clock.

Social Jetlag

The researchers estimate that social jetlag affects more than 80 percent of people in central Europe, especially those living in urban areas. By staying up late and sleeping in on weekends, then going to bed early to wake up early during the week, we set up a mismatch between our circadian rhythm and our social sleep schedule. Over time, this imbalance causes metabolic changes that lead to obesity, heart disease, and cancer.

When We Should Eat

Different eating patterns from around the world depend on personal preference and local culture. For example, the French place their importance on pleasurable and social eating, which is why many people in France and the Mediterranean region consider lunch the most important meal of the day. Food choices in central England, on the other hand, reflect individual preferences and convenience. This often translates into skipping meals, calorie-dense snack foods, and a higher consumption of ready-made and fast-food meals.

Currently in both the United States and the United Kingdom, energy intake from food consumption tends to increase throughout the day. Breakfast provides the lowest amount of energy while dinner provides the highest. This same shift toward smaller breakfasts and bigger dinners has started in France in recent years as work patterns have changed. So are the people of France at risk for an obesity epidemic similar to the one seen in the U.S.?

Is Breakfast King?

In a recently concluded study. researchers from Umea University asked 889 16-year-old students about their breakfast eating habits, propensity to skip meals, and how important sweetness was to their enjoyment of food. Nine percent of the students practiced poor breakfast habits. When the research team caught back up with the participants at the age of 43, they found that people who skipped breakfast as kids were 68 percent more likely to have metabolic syndrome.

“There seems to be some truth in the saying ‘Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper,’ however, this warrants further investigation,” Pot added. “Although the evidence suggests that eating more calories later in the evening is associated with obesity, we are still far from understanding whether our energy intake should be distributed equally across the day or whether breakfast should contribute the greatest proportion of energy, followed by lunch and dinner.”

When We Should Work Out

Sleep and meals aren’t the only things whose timing influences our health — the time of the day we exercise also plays a role. Just like our dieting habits, when we work helps determine how effective exercise can be. However, there seems to be no clear winner between working out in the morning or at night. Both have their benefits: Working out in the evening is best for boosting muscle strength and size, while exercising in the morning helps with losing weight, improving sleeping, and reducing stress.

CTE Model Curriculum Standards

Career Technical Education Standards for California Public Schools

Education Code Section 51226 provides legal authority to develop the CTE standards and framework. This legislation requires the development and adoption of CTE standards that incorporate the integration of career technical and academic education no later than June 1, 2005. The original CTE Model Curriculum Standards were adopted by the State Board of Education (SBE) on May 11, 2005. The standards, written for grades seven through twelve, specify learning goals in 58 career pathways organized around 15 industry sectors.

The California State Plan for Career Technical Education, A BRIDGE TO THE FUTURE 2008 2012, approved by the State Board of Education in May 2008, provides guidance for California s CTE programs in California. The State Plan states, CTE programs are dynamic; curricula need to stay current with rapid changes in the workplace, requiring ongoing updates and learning on the part of CTE faculty. The adoption of the English Language Arts and Mathematics Common Core State Standards furthered the need to revise and align the CTE Standards with this new academic core.

Commencing in May 2011, 117 individuals representing secondary and post-secondary education and business and industry met to review the 2005 standards and make recommendations for improvement. Following the May 2011 meeting, industry sector meetings were held to develop the revised CTE standards based on the recommendations. Subsequently, the revised CTE Standards were share with the general public for public review, comment, and suggestions. Once the CTE Standards were revised, academic and CTE teachers collaborated on the alignment with the Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Core Ideas, and the History/Social Science Standards. The newly revised CTE Model Curriculum Standards designed to prepare students to be both Career and College ready were adopted by the SBE on January 16, 2013.

Applications are currently being accepted for the Class of April 2019 (January 2018, start date). The application deadline is June 30, 2017 for the class entering in January 2018.

Classes are tentatively scheduled to begin on January 8, 2018. Approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing, the curriculum reflects a 16-month nursing program (60 weeks of instruction with breaks throughout), with a requirement of four (4) pre-requisite college credit* courses completed prior to entry, for a potential total of 20 months leading to a diploma in nursing.

To be considered for January 2018, admission, all pre-requisites need to be successfully completed (with a C (2.0) or better) by a date to be determined. An official transcript showing proof of completion must be received by the Washington Health System School of Nursing prior to the start of orientation to begin enrollment with the cohort of students in May 2017.

*Pre-requisite college credits include: Human Anatomy (or Anatomy and Physiology I) with lab, Human Physiology (or Anatomy and Physiology II) with lab, English Composition, and Developmental Psychology. NOTE: All science credits (Anatomy and Physiology) must have been completed within the past five years, as well from the same institution.

The admission procedure includes the ATI TEAS examination with a minimum Academic Preparedness Level of Proficiency with a score of greater than or equal to 65% being recommended. If the ATI TEAS is taken a second time, the higher score will be considered. Applications are also currently being accepted for the Class of 2019 (January, 2018, start date). The deadline for applications and receipt of final transcripts to be determined.

Disparities

Health disparity is defined as clinically and statistically significant differences in health care or health status between distinct vulnerable and less vulnerable populations linked with social, economic, and/or environmental disadvantage and an elevated burden of ill health or premature mortality. Such disparities adversely affect groups who have systematically experienced greater obstacles to health or health care based on numerous characteristics linked to discrimination or exclusion.

    This year we refined our organizational structure and expanded collaborations to support achievement of the Center of Innovation (COIN) program goals. We have advanced our cross-center research program through partnerships aimed at improving health care experiences and patient satisfaction with VA health care among vulnerable populations. We also have supported an emerging area of research concentrated on improving the quality, safety, and value of clinical therapeutics in the VA and beyond.

    CHERP leaders consistently respond to new opportunities to communicate the value of our research to VA leaders charged with ensuring the quality and equity of health care for millions of Veterans. CHERP Investigators are at the forefront of efforts to evaluate the impact of VA’s implementation of the patient-aligned care team model of care and efforts to translate VA research findings into clinical practice.

    About Our History

    The VA Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP) was established in 2001 by HSR D as a national Center of Excellence focused on detecting, understanding, and reducing disparities in health and health care in vulnerable populations. This strong collaboration between the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) and Philadelphia VA Medical Center (PVAMC) in VISN4 and their respective academic affiliates (University of Pittsburgh and University of Pennsylvania) was built upon the collective and complementary strengths of the investigators at both sites to target an area of investigation of highest priority to the VA Healthcare System and the nation as a whole. Built upon a track record of scholarship, cross-center research collaborations, development and retention of highly accomplished investigators, service, and well-established partnerships, CHERP became a Center of Innovation (COIN) that has measurable impact on the quality and equity of Veteran health care.

    About Our Investigators

    Over the past decade, CHERP investigators conducted innovative, high impact health services research; advanced the conceptual underpinnings of health equity research to facilitate the work of others; partnered with operations and policy leaders on research and quality improvement initiatives; promoted the implementation and dissemination of findings to improve the clinical care and health outcomes of Veterans; and supported the development of junior investigators who have become leaders in this field. CHERP provides infrastructure and support for approximately 42 core investigators engaged in health services research at the VA Pittsburgh Medical Center and the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. These physicians, nurses, and PhD investigators have broad expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methods, including clinical trials, quality improvement, clinical epidemiology, large database analysis, pharmacoeconomics, psychometrics, econometrics, decision and cost-effectiveness analysis, meta-analysis, technology assessment, and implementation science. An additional 25 non-core investigators collaborate with CHERP core investigators to advance our mission and strategic goals.

    CHERP Investigators fulfill not only national service roles, but also fulfill important service roles across a broad array of academic societies, research organizations, and within their local VAMCs, VISN4, and affiliated universities. CHERP investigators hold national leadership roles that position them to shape health care policy, improve clinical care, and impact research priorities and dissemination.

    10 Things You Should Know About Buying Long-Term Care Insurance

    Long-Term Care is Different From Traditional Medical Care
    Someone with a prolonged physical illness, a disability or a cognitive impairment such as Alzheimer s disease often needs long-term care. Long-term care services may include help with daily activities, home health care, respite care, hospice care, adult day care, care in a nursing home or care in an assisted living facility.

    Long-Term Care Can be Expensive
    The cost depends on the amount and type of care you need and where you get it. In 2001, the national average cost of nursing home care was $56,000 per year, assisted living facilities reported $22,476 per year and home care costs ranged from $12,000 to $16,000 per year.

    You Have Options When Paying for Long-Term Care
    People pay for long-term care in a variety of ways. These include using personal resources, long-term care insurance and Medicaid for those who qualify. Medicare, Medicare supplement insurance and health insurance you may have at work usually will not pay for long-term care. Long-term care insurance will pay for some or all of your long-term care.

    Decide Whether Long-Term Care Insurance is for You
    Whether you should buy a long-term care insurance policy will depend on your age, health status overall retirement goals, income and assets. For instance, if your only source of income is a Social Security benefit or Supplemental Security Income (SSI), you probably should not buy long-term care insurance since you may not be able to afford the premium. On the other hand, if you have a large amount of assets but do not want to use them to pay for long-term care, you may want to buy a long-term care insurance policy. Many people buy a policy because they want to stay independent of government aid or the help of family. They don t want to burden anyone with having to care for them. However, you should not buy a policy if you can t afford the premium or are not sure you can pay the premium for the rest of your life.

    Pre-Existing Condition Limitations
    A long-term care insurance policy usually defines a pre-existing condition as one for which you received medical advice or treatment or had symptoms within a certain period before you applied for the policy. Some companies look further back in time than others. Many companies will sell a policy to someone with a pre-existing condition. However, the company may not pay benefits for long-term care related to that condition for a period after the policy goes into effect, usually six months. Some companies have longer pre-existing condition periods or none at all.

    Know Where to Look for Long-Term Care Insurance
    Long-term care insurance is available to you in several different forms. You can buy an individual policy from a private insurance company or agent, or you can buy coverage under a group policy through an employer or association membership. The federal government and several state governments offer long-term care insurance coverage to their employees, retirees and their families. You can also get long-term care benefits through a life insurance policy. Some states have long-term care insurance programs designed to help people with the financial impact of spending down to meet Medicaid eligibility standards. Check with your state insurance department or counseling program to see if these policies are available in your state.

    Check With Several Companies and Agents
    Contact several companies and agents before you buy a long-term care policy. Be sure to compare benefits, the types of facilities covered, limits on your coverage, what is not covered and the premium. Policies from different insurance companies often have the same coverage and benefits but may not cost the same. Be sure to ask companies about their rate increase history and whether they have increased the rates on the long-term care insurance policies.

    Don t be Misled by Advertising
    Most celebrity endorsers are professional actors paid to advertise, not insurance experts. It is also important to note that Medicare does not endorse or sell long-term care insurance policies, so be wary of advertising that suggests Medicare is involved. Do not trust cards you get in the mail that look like official government documents until you check with the government agency identified on the card.

    Make Sure the Insurance Company is Reputable
    To help you find out if an insurance company is reliable, you can take the following actions: Stop before you sign anything, call your state insurance department and confirm that the insurance company is licensed to do business in your state. After you make sure they are licensed, check the financial stability of the company by checking their ratings. You can get ratings from some insurer rating services for free at most public libraries.

    Review Your Contract Carefully
    When you purchase long-term care insurance, your company should send you a policy. You should read the policy and make certain you understand its contents. If you have questions about your insurance policy, contact your insurance agent for clarification. If you still have questions, turn to your state insurance department or insurance counseling program.
