Used car values fall for third consecutive month

The average value of a used car in February fell by 1.7% to £7,814 compared to January, according to the monthly BCA Pulse Report

It was the third consecutive month of decline although year on year values were up 6.6%.

Values of used cars are set to soften further as higher volumes enter the market during the busy March plate-change month.

BCA’s UK operations director Simon Henstock said: “Levels of trade were steady during February, with plenty of interest in retail ready cars, but buyers were rather more wary of poorer condition vehicles.

“With a greater volume of stock expected to reach the marketplace in 2015, buyers have a lot more choice and vehicles requiring repair and refurbishment need to be sensibly valued to compete.  For cars with cosmetic damage, SMART repairs are a cost effective option for sellers, meaning their vehicles can be quickly processed and presented in the best possible condition.”

“Looking ahead, most commentators are expecting a strong March for new car sales and, as every new car sale typically generates a chain of used car activity, there will be greater volumes from fleet and contract hire sources as well as increasing numbers of dealer part-exchange vehicles.  This could impact on residual values in the weeks ahead and BCA is recommending that volume vendors appraise their sale stock closely to ensure it is valued in line with market expectations.”

Henstock said further softening could be expected in in the run up to Easter and with the General Election on 7 May.

“In addition, the Easter break and the spring Bank Holiday are nearly upon us and the dynamics of the wholesale market are likely to change over the coming weeks.  Retail demand typically softens post-Easter as the focus turns towards the summer holiday rather than changing the family car.

“The General Election also begins to loom large on the horizon, and we should expect a little uncertainty in the wholesale markets in the run up to May 7th.

Easy Oven Baked Beef Ribs

Easy oven baked BBQ beef ribs that are well-seasoned to the bone, slow baked, tender, juicy and fall off the bone perfection!

For some reason, it never fails that my sister and I get stuck making the beef ribs for family functions. Maybe it s because we make really great oven baked beef ribs but truth be told we have no clue what we re really doing and our oven baked ribs are, use to be, really hit or miss.

Here is how the conversation usually went. My sister calls me up-

Sister: Mama wants you to make beef ribs for .

Me: No she didn t, you know good and well she asked you to make them.

Sister: Yes, but I don t want to. So I ll buy them and let you make them ok.

Me: Umm…no ma am! Sister: Ok I ll drop them off.

Me: Shon don t bring them ribs over here. I m not even at home. (total lie)

Sister: Ok then I ll just leave them by the door m-kay. Byeee. Thanks boo. (and she hangs up before I have a chance to respond)

That girl gets on my nerve sometimes. LOL Gotta love her. I think we use to hate making the beef ribs because we really didn t have a tried and true recipe to work off of. Yes, I have another oven baked beef rib recipe on my site but I grew tired of that one. It was a little too saucy and time consuming. Not to mention, it wasn t doing the best job at making my husband do the air booty slap dance after he ate them. Which is what he does when I make something amazing.

I wanted an oven baked beef rib recipe that was simple, easy and made the best beef ribs all the time. Well I decided to do what any girl does when she needs a tried and true recipe to wow em, I called grandma. Ms. Barbara never disappoints honey. She made my hubby and I some oven baked BBQ beef ribs when we went to visit (yes she cooks a full spread for ANYBODY who tells her they are coming over. Like seriously. She is insanely sweet like that.) and he raved about how good they were. I love when my food makes my man happy so I was determined to recreate my grandma s ribs for him.

Well guess what happened? My husband liked this oven baked BBQ rib recipe better than Grandma Barbs. The only thing I did differently was add more spices to the rib spice rub recipe. I think this kicked up the taste of BBQ sauce and even helped to tenderize them a little more.

Now I ONLY make this oven beef rib recipe and after you try it, you may never make it any other way either. Hubby says I m not allowed to experiment with other recipes because these beef ribs took him on a journey somewhere and he couldn t stop eating them. He seriously almost ate the entire pan.I won t lie, they are amazing! Juicy, fall off the bone tender, well- seasoned, perfectly saucy and sticky! Everything I look for in a good oven baked BBQ beef rib.

Ok enough blabbering about these doggone beef ribs. Go make them for your man. For your wife. For yourself. For your kids. Somebody! Just make them. And devour them one by one until you push back from the table totally stuffed. I may or may not have done that. I served these oven baked BBQ beef ribs with sweet corn, steamed broccoli. garlic Texas toast and cinnamon mashed sweet potatoes…and of course sweet ice tea!

Associates vs Bachelors

Hi hpatel84,
to Allnurses!

You will want to check into schools that have accelerated BSN programs and make sure you have the necessary pre-requisites (e.g. A P, microbiology, statistics, nutrition, etc.). Sociology is one of the pre-reqs, so you’ve got that covered!

Next, you should see what else the school requires in addition to pre-reqs and undergrad GPA. Some schools require the GRE or another standardized test. Some will require you to write an essay or submit letters of recommendation.

Let me know if you have any other questions! I am currently in an ABSN program.

Oh thank you so much for answering those questions! I have some other questions too! What are they looking for inparticular regarding schools in nursing and do you think it is a good idea to maybe try a Associates also just so I dont’ waste time. Have you heard of anything about how easy or hard it is to get into a Asociates-BSN program, i think its like an RN-BSN program or would that just be a waste of time?

You’re welcome, Hetal.

– Different programs look for different things. For example, one of the main criteria for an accelerated BSN program would be that you would have to have a bachelor’s degree in a non-nursing field. A 3.0 undergrad GPA is also usually the norm for these programs.

– I am not sure what the exact requirements are to get into an ADN program (associate’s in nursing). I hear these have waiting lists sometimes.

– Since you already have a bachelor’s degree, you would be an eligible applicant for an accelerated program. You could also go for your ADN (associate’s in nursing) and then do a bridge program (RN-to-BSN). You would definitely need your BSN if you want to become a CRNA.

Hi everyone!
I am a Georgia resident, currently working on a four year degree, but would like to switch to the field of nursing. I am planning on completing a CNA course this month, then do my LPN. The problem I am having is the prequisits. I have just two of them and would like to start the LPN course shortly after. Does anyone know of any accredited online courses that I can take to avoid these waiting list? I am engaged to be married soon and do not have a lot of time to wait around as I will have a family to support.
Thanks

*** Not necessarily. A bachelors degree IS required for CRNA school but lots of schools accept degrees other than a BSN. You could go to CRNA school with an ADN and a bachelors in something else. My best friend just left for CRNA school. He has an ADN, a BS in biology and will graduate CRNA school with an MS in biology.
A BSN may be a better bet though.

Older Americans and Children are Especially Vulnerable to Harm From Slip Fall Accidents

Slip Fall is an injury claim based on a fall that occurs on someone else s property, is caused by that property owner s negligence, and requires a Michigan slip and fall accident lawyer. A Slip Fall occurs, according to our Michigan slip and fall accident lawyer team, not because the victim was not paying attention and stumbled, but because another person s negligence lead to the fall.

Our own slip and fall accident attorney team’s research revealed that thousands of people are injured every year because of hidden hazards on property or because of flagrant dangerous conditions that property owners fail to correct. Falls are one of the most common sources of injuries in the United States.

Among the hidden hazards or flagrant dangerous conditions that can produce a valid Slip Fall claim are:

  • Ice or snow on sidewalks
  • Poor lighting
  • Defective flooring
  • Clear ice
  • Standing water puddles
  • Improperly secured floor mats
  • Unsafe stairways or steps
  • Hidden drop offs or holes

Slip and fall cases fall under a broader category known as premises liability, explains Terry Cochran, senior partner in Cochran, Kroll Associates, a leader in personal liability litigation. Under the premises liability area of law, property owners and businesses have a duty to provide a safe environment and if they fail to do so, and someone is injured as a result, they may be held liable for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and lost wages.

But you must prove that the property owner knew or should have know about the hazard and that he had a reasonable amount of time to correct the hazard but failed to do so, says Cochran. In the case of an overnight winter storm, the property owner may not be liable if a reasonable amount of time to clear the walkway had not passed.

Slip Fall laws have undergone several significant changes in Michigan. State Supreme Court and Michigan Appellate Court rulings in recent years have resulted in restrictions being placed on the ability of victims to seek justice.

So if you have suffered been injured by a fall on someone else s property contact Cochran, Kroll Associates for a free consultation to determine if the injury is the result of another person s negligence. Our attorneys will investigate the accident site and obtain the medical records and testimony needed to prove negligence, cause, and specific harm.

Elements of a Slip Fall Claim

To be successful in making a Slip Fall claim the victim must have a demonstrable injury. The injury does not have to be serious to file a claim but an injury normally has to be serious to win a judgment. If the injury is mild, make sure you consult with legal consul about the chances of litigating successfully.

To prove a claim, the victim must prove that the dangerous condition on the property was directly responsible for the fall and subsequent injury. As an example, a storeowner may have failed to remove snow from the sidewalk but to establish the owner was at fault it must be shown the snow caused the fall. The successful claimant also will be able to demonstrate that the injury suffered was caused by the specific Slip Fall incident.

To prove a property owner negligent in Michigan to win a Slip Fall claim requires:

  • Showing that the property owner should have had knowledge of the dangerous condition
  • Showing the property owner had the chance to correct the problem causing the fall or give warning of the problem.
  • Showing that the property owner negligently failed to give warning or correct the problem.
  • Sometimes a property owner can escape responsibility by asserting an open and obvious doctrine defense. This defense is based on whether the existence of the hazard was openly visible and seen by the victim before the fall.

Generally the law does not require a property owner to remove ice or snow that accumulates outside the building as a result of weather. But if an unnatural accumulation of ice or snow occurs, than the owner can be liable. And if a snow removal service is employed, the owner can be held liable if negligence can be proved. So many issues are involved with a slip and fall on an icy walkway that an attorney should be hired to review the facts.

There is no precise formula that can be used to determine when the property owner is responsible if you slip or trip, says Cochran. Each case turns on whether the property owner acted carefully so that slipping was unlikely to happen and whether you were careless in not seeing or avoiding the condition that caused your fall. That s why you must seek the advice of an attorney who can make that determination for you.

VW sales fall sharply in wake of diesel scandal

Volkswagen’s 2015 Sportwagen TDI is one of the vehicles caught in the company’s expanding emissions scandal, which already has affected 11 million VW and Audi diesel cars worldwide.

Volkswagen ‘s U.S. sales dropped sharply in November, mainly because of the company’s decision to stop selling its diesel vehicles, which VW has admitted were outfitted with illegal emissions-cheating devices.

Overall sales for the month dropped almost 25%, at a time when many automakers GM, FCA, Nissan and Honda among them were reporting solid increases in sales volumes.

The drop is almost entirely because of absent diesel sales, according to Kelley Blue Book analyst Karl Brauer.

Diesel figures in the U.S. were 22 to 25% of their total U.S. sales in any given month, Brauer said. Now they have 25% fewer cars that they’re allowed to sell.

VW has admitted installing defeat devices in an estimated 11 million vehicles worldwide. The onboard software allowed the diesel cars to produce exciting power and deliver good fuel economy while appearing to produce far less pollution than they actually were.

The devices were installed in 489,000 four-cylinder 2.0-liter TDI diesel engines and about 80,000 3.0-liter six-cylinder engines. The power plants are used in some VW, Audi and Porsche vehicles.

The company now faces government investigation, public censure and multiple class-action lawsuits, and has set aside almost $8 billion to offset diesel-related losses.

In a statement, VW of America Chief Operating Officer Mark McNabb said, Volkswagen is working on an approved remedy for the affected TDI vehicles.

It wasn’t only diesel sales that fell, though. Total numbers of Jetta units sold dropped almost 30%, and numbers on Passats fell 60%. Sales of Beetles were off nearly 40%, while vehicles in the Golf line showed slight rises. Tiguan sales also were up.

VW s highest-volume nameplates were among the hardest hit, with Jetta compact sedan sales falling 23% and Passat midsize sedan deliveries dropping 60%.

Federated Auto Parts 400 Travel Package

One of the most important races on the NASCAR schedule is the Federated Auto Parts 400 (formerly Chevy Rock and Roll 400) at Richmond International Raceway. As you might expect with a name like that, this is the final race before the Chase for the Sprint Cup and the last chance for drivers to earn points and become part of that select group of 12 drivers. Whether you want to call it a Federated Auto Parts 400 travel package or a Chevy Rock and Roll 400 travel package, SportsTravel.com is ready to send you to Richmond to see all the action.

The roots of this race go all the way back to 1958, when it was known as the Richmond 200. Speedy Thompson took that first running with a not-so-speedy average speed of 57 mph and he earned a whopping 800 for his efforts. Of course things have changed since then and this year s winner will get about 250,000 and the average speed will be well over 100 mph on the ¾ mile short track.

Our One Last Race to Make the Chase travel packages include race tickets, hotel accommodations in downtown Richmond, roundtrip transportation to the track and the option of adding Nationwide Series race tickets. Even though Richmond has a seating capacity of nearly 100,000, it was quite common for Federated Auto Parts 400 tickets to sell out so it would be no surprise at all to see that happen now that fans will be asking for One Last Race to Make the Chase tickets. But if you get one of our NASCAR travel packages, then you ll never have to worry about finding race tickets on your own.

If you want to see the other race at Richmond International Raceway, the Richmond 400 (also known as the Crown Royal 400 or Crown Royal Presents The Your Name Here 400), then we have a package for you. In fact, we have packages for every NASCAR race, including the biggest one of them all, the Daytona 500 .
