Mi viaje a Australia

Vuelo sydney- ayers rock: 176 euros

Londres. vuelo perdido!

Otras opciones: greyhound bus.

Has your partner had continuous hospital cover since their 31st birthday?

If they haven’t, you may need to pay Lifetime Health Cover loading

You may need to pay extra

The Australian Government may require you to pay LHC loading.

This means your premium will be increased by 2% for every year you weren’t covered after turning 31.

This raises your total premium to $ 65 per week

This calculation is an estimate only that will be confirmed on sign up.

What is LHC loading?

Lifetime Health Cover (LHC) is a federal government initiative designed to encourage people to take out hospital insurance earlier in life and to maintain their cover.

Is it just GMHBA?

All health insurers apply LHC loading to your premium. It’s a government requirement.

A pre-existing condition is one where signs or symptoms of your ailment, illness or condition, in the opinion of a medical practitioner appointed by GMHBA (not your own doctor), existed at any time during the six months preceding the day on which you purchased your hospital insurance or upgraded to a higher level of hospital cover and/or benefit entitlement.

A special waiting period applies to obtain benefits for hospital treatment for new members who have pre-existing conditions. The waiting period also applies to existing members who have recently upgraded their level of hospital cover. If the ailment, illness or condition is considered pre-existing:

New members must wait 12 months for any hospital benefits (other than psychiatric, rehabilitation and palliative care).

    Existing members (transferring or upgrading)

Members transferring/upgrading to a higher hospital cover must wait 12 months to get the higher hospital benefits (other than psychiatric, rehabilitation and palliative care).

Existing members (with less than 12 months membership)

Existing members with less than 12 months membership in total across their old and new cover are entitled to the lower benefits on their old cover.

A Benefit Limitation Periods (BLP) is a restriction on selected services for what GMHBA will pay for your hospital treatment for the first 24 months of cover. It begins the date you first join or upgrade your level of cover. Providing that you have served the relevant waiting period, if you need to go to hospital your benefit is restricted to public hospital benefits in a shared room. Once the 24 month BLP has been served you are eligible to claim in a Private Hospital as a private patient.

E.g. After serving the two month waiting period for a procedure or service with a BLP, your benefits will be restricted for the following 22 months. After this period you will be entitled to claim this procedure or service in a private hospital.

Silver Hospital cover provides the same single room coverage as Gold Hospital, but co-payments of $100 per day up to a maximum of $700 per admission apply. Co-payments are not the same as hospital excess. Please note: Some private hospitals only have single rooms and co-payments will apply in a public and private hospital.

    Personal Accident Insurance

While bushwalking is a low-risk activity when compared with most active sports and recreational pursuits, accidents do occur from time to time, and the seriousness and cost of an incident is potentially greater in remote areas where medical aid may not be readily available. For this reason it is recommended that member clubs arrange Personal Accident Insurance for their members.

The Personal Accident Policy provides cover to club members in respect to injury incurred while the member is engaged in an activity authorised by and under the control of the Insured (the club), including direct uninterrupted travel to and from such activity subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions of the Policy.

    Renewal Arrangements for 2017-2018

The Bushwalking Australia Personal Accident insurance policy was renewed from 1 July 2017 without change to insurer, conditions or endorsements, and with no change to the overall cost of the policy. There may be a small change to the cost per member after taking into account the number of members to be covered. Clubs that submitted renewal questionnaires requesting cover under this policy will automatically have their cover renewed from 1 July.

The Schedule of Benefits under the Personal Accident Policy include the following (refer to the policy documents for specific details of all benefits and applicable conditions and exclusions):

    1. Loss of earnings – Benefit of $700 per week up to age 95, maximum of 80% of income, 7 day excess, maximum of 52 weeks
    2. Non-Medicare medical benefit, 80% claimable to a maximum of $3,000 (previously $2000)
    3. Broken bones benefit of up to $2,000
    4. Capital Benefit due directly and solely to injury – $50,000 up to age 84, $10,000 age 85-95 or under age 18
    5. Critical Incident Debriefing – benefit of up to $5,000 per person per event
    6. Home Care, $250 per week (increased from $150 per week)

    Medicare and Accident Cover

When it comes to reimbursement of Personal Injury claims, some people get confused about Medicare,

the Medicare Gap and what is covered through the Personal Accident policy.

The Health Insurance Act 1973 (Cth) strictly prohibits any general insurer from covering any item that is listed on the Medicare Benefits Schedule. This also means that regardless of your out of pocket expenses, it is against the law for the Insurer to cover you for the Medicare Gap.

So what does that mean? If your medical or other treatment has a Medicare Item Number, it is uninsurable and you may not claim for reimbursement through JLT Sport.

If your medical or other treatment does not have a Medicare Item Number, you may claim for reimbursement through JLT Sport.

The following document provides additional information on the difference between what is covered by Medicare and what is covered through the personal accident policy: Personal accident insurance australiaMedicare vs Personal Accident Policy 1.04 MB .

Australia – s EV and PHEV sales analysed, car sales australia.#Car #sales #australia

Australia s EV and PHEV sales analysed

    Car sales australia

    Car sales australia

Electric and plug-in hybrid car sales continue to make barely a dent in Australia compared to other mature markets, though product cycles clearly represent a caveat.

According to industry figures obtained by CarAdvice, trackable sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) or BEVs with a range-extender (REx) in Australia peaked at 294 units in 2015 before falling to 138 last year.

So far in 2017 they sit at 35, well below the levels seen between 2012-15. A number of brands such as Nissan and Volkswagen have committed to EV futures in Australia soon, but it won t be this year.

    Car sales australia

There s one irritant in all this, however. Tesla does not submit its sales to the industry peak body that compiles all relevant car sales data, and refuses to comment on its numbers, leaving a large hole in the data.

The same downward trend exists with plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), sales of which have tumbled from about 940 in 2015 to about 560 last year. The YTD number for 2017 looks to be 155 units.

Naturally, a closer look reveals some reasons beyond lack of market hunger for fuelled cars.

    Car sales australia

The Nissan Leaf and Holden Volt dominated the BEV and BEV-with-REx area in 2012 with 188 and 101 sales respectively, yet both are now gone from our market. The former is on hiatus ahead of the launch of a new generation, while the latter is no longer made in right-hand drive by GM.

The all-time record set in 2015 saw the Leaf claim 136 units, the Volt claim 8, and the BMW i3 claim 150 units to be market leader. This car declined in 2016 but has bounced slightly to 34 YTD this year as the updated i3 94 Ah version proliferates.

Yet as it stands, 34 of the 35 EVs sold in Australia this year were the BMW, with the only other unit being a Renault Kangoo ZE van on a fleet trial.

    Car sales australia

Moving over to the PHEV market, the sale slide is largely attributable to the market hiatus of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, which hit around 863 sales in 2014, 753 sales in 2015 and just 49 last year. An updated model has just launched and it will bounce back with a vengeance, but in its absence it gutted 90 per cent of the segment s sales.

In lieu of the Outlander other models have helped, but not entirely picked up the slack.

    Performers in 2016 included the BMW 330e (74), BMW X5 xDrive40e (60), Mercedes-Benz C350e (168), Mercedes-Benz GLE500e (40), Audi A3 e-tron (60) and Volvo XC90 T8 (72). The Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid managed 138 units between 2015-16, while the company holds about 16 pre-orders of the Panamera E-Hybrid already impressive.

    Car sales australia

Even with this clear caveat, the fact we have seen sales of EV and PHEVs go backwards as the proportional investment in greener vehicles grows exponentially around the globe, is of note.

As we have reported extensively, a wide array of car brands from Nissan/Renault, to BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen have called for the government to establish policies here such as those used throughout much of Europe, the US and Asia. Nissan recently said dealing with the Australian government was akin to amateur hour .

Policies include tax breaks, direct subsidies, dedicated driving lanes and publicly funded charging infrastructure, none of which Australia offers to any meaningful degree. The tone used here may just lay out our editorial stance on this position

    Car sales australia

The fact that most BEV sales in Australia historically have been to private buyers or business fleets (vastly more the former than the latter), with only a minute share of sales going to government agencies, also tells a tale.

On the plus side, sales of conventional mild hybrids are actually doing okay, with 12,154 units selling last year. This was moderately higher that the numbers seen in 2013-15, but lower than 2012 s figure of 13,934 units.

By far the top-selling conventional hybrid in 2016 was the Toyota Camry (5891), ahead of the Corolla Hybrid (1118), Lexus NX (1087), Toyota Prius C (903), Lexus CT200h (901), Lexus RX (525) and Toyota Prius V (467). The most popular hybrid not from the Toyota group was the Nissan Pathfinder (179).

We at CarsGuide.com.au endeavour to test every new car that hits the market, but the most useful reviews are where we compare new cars against their closest competition.

Shopping for a new car can be a daunting task. Few of us have the time to test drive all the vehicles on our shortlist, and it’s even rarer to get the chance to compare them on the same day, in the same environment.

With more than 60 brands to choose from and several hundred models, Australia is widely regarded as the most competitive new car market in the world.

So buyers have plenty to choose from, but it’s our job to make these choices easier.

Our annual CarsGuide Car of the Year award  selects the best new model to arrive on the market, but we conduct several comparison tests throughout the year to help formulate our COTY shortlist.

We also publish a weekly head to head comparison. which puts two similar models side by side to determine a winner.

These comparisons can help determine the best model in a particular class, the best of a bunch of recent arrivals, or the best way to spend your money within a certain price bracket.

We compare anything from budget hatches to luxury sedans, SUVs of all sizes, utes, commercials and performance cars.

Our team of experts have several decades of experience between them, and follow a scientific process to select the winner of a comparison.

Competing vehicles are tested simultaneously over the same roads, over routes chosen to test the breadth of their capabilities and highlight any shortcomings.

Price, value, fuel consumption, safety, performance, and packaging are common criteria regardless of what models we’re testing, but we also consider a vehicle’s suitability for its intended purpose.

We aim to provide the best online tools for choosing your next car. If there’s anything you think we can do better, please let us know in the comments below.

GM’s Holden to stop making cars in Australia

    11 December 2013

Image caption Holden said a small domestic market was among the reasons behind its decision

Holden, a subsidiary of General Motors (GM), has said it will stop making cars in Australia by the end of 2017.

The move will result in nearly 2,900 people losing their jobs.

The firm said a strong Australian currency, high manufacturing costs and a small domestic market were among the reasons behind its decision.

Holden, which has made cars in Australia for nearly 65 years, will retain its sales unit and a parts distribution centre in Australia.

“The decision to end manufacturing in Australia reflects the perfect storm of negative influences the automotive industry faces in the country,” GM chief executive Dan Akerson said in a statement.

“This includes the sustained strength of the Australian dollar, high cost of production, small domestic market and arguably the most competitive and fragmented auto market in the world.”

    Subsidies

Carmakers in Australia have been struggling for some time, despite the government extending support to the industry via subsidies over the past few years.

    Analysis

By Puneet Pal Singh Business Reporter, BBC News

Holden has been an iconic brand in Australia. In fact, it personified the Australian car industry for decades.

Unfortunately, its latest move is also symbolic of the issues faced, not just by it, but the sector overall.

One of the biggest headaches has been the strong Australian currency, which has risen nearly 30% against the US dollar over the past five years.

That has made foreign-made cars cheaper for Australian consumers. According to various estimates, nearly 85% of cars sold in the country are imported.

A relatively small domestic market means that local manufacturers are left competing for an even smaller share, which is proving insufficient to sustain their growth.

The numbers of cars made in Australia has halved over the past 30 years, and with Holden ceasing its production in 2017, some fear the entire sector may crumble.

Holden’s exit will leave Toyota as the sole manufacturer in Australia and until things change drastically, the fear is that the Japanese firm may also go looking for greener pastures.

A weak Japanese yen, which makes exports from Japan cheaper, coupled with a strong Australian dollar may just deliver the knock-out punch for the Australian car industry.

However, there has been a debate over whether the government should continue to provide support to the sector.

According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Prime Minister Tony Abbott declared last week that there would be no more taxpayer assistance.

The government had also increased pressure on Holden in recent days to clarify its future plans for Australia.

Dave Smith, national secretary of the vehicle division at Australian Manufacturing Workers Union, said the government’s push had influenced Holden’s move.

“I believe the decision’s been prompted by the behaviour of the government yesterday,” he told the ABC.

“Unfortunately, they’ve been let down by a government that wouldn’t back them in.”

    Wider implications

In May, US carmaker Ford announced that it would stop production in Australia in 2016.

That means Holden’s decision will leave Japanese carmaker Toyota as the only company still making cars in Australia from 2017.

The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union said it was now “highly likely” Toyota could decide to leave Australia as well.

“In fact, it’s almost certain and this will spell the end of 50,000 automotive jobs,” Mr Smith said. “There’s no dispute about that.”

The Motor Trade Association of South Australia said the government needed to take steps to ensure a sustainable future for the sector.

“Our attention must now go to those component manufacturers and Toyota, and the federal government must immediately begin working on plans to keep this important manufacturing base in Australia,” said John Chapman, chief executive of the association.

Treasurer Joe Hockey said the government would work closely with the state governments and unions to ensure Holden’s departure “does not lead to a significant economic downturn in South Australia or Victoria”, where the firm’s two manufacturing units are based.

“We will do everything to help in this transition,” he added.

Holden confirms it will leave Australia in 2017

GM Holden will cease producing cars in Australia from 2017, putting 2,900 employees out of work and Australia’s remaining car and components industry and its 45,000 workers in immediate danger.

“The decision to end manufacturing in Australia reflects the perfect storm of negative influences the automotive industry faces in the country, including the sustained strength of the Australian dollar, high cost of production, small domestic market and arguably the most competitive and fragmented auto market in the world,” GM Holden’s chairman, Dan Akerson, said.

In a statement from Detroit, Holden said “approximately 2,900 positions will be impacted over the next four years. This will comprise 1,600 from the Elizabeth vehicle manufacturing plant [in South Australia] and approximately 1,300 from Holden’s Victorian workforce.

Toyota’s response to Holden’s announcement exacerbated fears that the decision could have a knock-on effect. “This will place unprecedented pressure on the local supplier network and our ability to build cars in Australia,” the company said. “We will now work with our suppliers, key stakeholders and the government to determine our next steps and whether we can continue operating as the sole vehicle manufacturer in Australia.”

Holden’s chief executive in Australia, Mike Devereux, said: “This has been a difficult decision given Holden’s long and proud history of building vehicles in Australia.

“We are dedicated to working with our teams, unions and the local communities, along with the federal and state governments, to support our people.”

The Abbott government had attacked Holden for failing to immediately clarify its long-term intentions in Australia, even though the industry minister, Ian Macfarlane, had commissioned the Productivity Commission to report by next March on what ongoing subsidies should be provided to car makers – something Holden said it needed to know before committing to produce another model in Australia.

“We regret the fact that General Motors will phase down its operations … Holden has been an iconic national brand and part of our heritage. many of us have had the pleasure of travelling and owning Australian-built Holdens and it is a pity that will not continue,” the acting prime minister, Warren Truss, told parliament as he broke the news shortly after the beginning of question time.

The treasurer, Joe Hockey, said the government would work with the state governments, the unions and the company to ensure the closure “does not lead to a significant downturn in South Australia and Victoria”.

The company received $1.8bn in government assistance between 2001 and 2012, but said that generated $32.7 billion in economic activity.

Mitsubishi pulled out of Australia in 2008 and Ford will end production in 2016.

Hockey said the fact that Mitsubishi and Ford announced they were pulling out of Australia during Labor’s term in office proved government funding was not “the issue” and the assistant minister for employment, Luke Hartsuyker, said immediate job-seeking support would be provided to workers who lost their jobs.

Macfarlane, who had previously argued for ongoing support for the car industry, said Labor governments had “laid the foundations” for the car industry’s failure.

But Labor’s industry spokesman, Kim Carr, said in a tweet: The Abbott government has succeeded in forcing Holden out of Australia. Workers have been sacrificed for reckless Coalition policy.

Both Hockey and the education minister, Christopher Pyne, said labour costs were a significant factor in the Australian car industry’s lack of competitiveness, blaming the unionised workforce.

In its statement, Holden said it would still have a national sales company, a parts distribution centre and a design studio in Australia after 2017, and that sales and service of Holden cars would be unaffected.

It said the high Australian dollar was a major factor it its decision, pointing out that at its peak, the level of the dollar meant Australian manufacturing was 65% more expensive compared with a decade earlier.

Speaking to journalists about the decision, Devereux said: “There is no question this is a difficult day not just for Holden but for the country … we have been part of the industrialisation of this country.”

But he said the company had determined on Tuesday afternoon, shortly after he had reassured the Productivity Commission that no decision had been made, that “building cars in this country is just not sustainable”.

He refused to answer questions about what level of government assistance could have convinced the company to stay, saying only “we understand the point of view of the government of the day”.

“Make no mistake we have looked at every possible option to build our next generation cars here in this country … no matter which way we applied the numbers our long-term business case … was simply not viable,” he said.

But the national secretary of the Australian Manufacturing Workers’ Union vehicle division, Dave Smith, said the government could easily have prevented the closure by continuing the deal Labor had struck with Holden before the election.

“They could have stopped this, absolutely they could have stopped this. they just decided they weren’t interested in these jobs. They should apologise and they should hang their heads in shame,” he said.

Smith said Toyota had told him the Holden decision would mean its operation would become unviable.

Labor acting leader, Tanya Plibersek, said the government had “goaded and dared Holden to pull out” and had now “got its way”. She said the decision, which could easily have been avoided, could cost 200,000 jobs when workers who depended on the car industry were taken into account.

The South Australian premier, Jay Weatherill, said it was a “black day for South Australia” and accused the Abbott government of “turning its back on the industry and the people in it”.

The Victorian premier, Denis Napthine, said he had been advised it was an “irrevocable decision” and that it was a “very, very sad day for Australia and Victoria”.

    Low Car Loan Interest Rates

Interest rates on car loans can have large variations between lenders and also products available and they will also vary from client to client.

The most common question we are asked as a finance brokers is, “what is your interest rate?” This seems to be the most important question for a client looking for a car loan.

As finance brokers would have a range of lenders available, the variation in interest rates is very large, as firstly it will be based on the vehicle and how you are purchasing it and this will shortlist down which lenders would actually approve the car you are purchasing.

    Age of the Vehicle

As some lenders apply their interest rates on the age of the vehicle and others may use a “rate for risk” scoring system, to accurately determine what interest rate and lender would best suit your circumstances, would be based off the strengths in your application, your credit file and the activity on it, and the value of your car you are purchasing and how much you want to borrow against it, whilst using it as security over the loan.

This would mean a full application would be required to determine the best interest rate and lender for your proposal, as this will allow whether it would be better to use the “rate for risk” system, or a lender who applies a flat rate based on the age of the vehicle.

    Fixed Term Loans

Car loan interest rates with the main lenders in the motor finance sector are most commonly fixed for the term of the loan, which would mean that they won’t move up or down with the market and your repayments and interest rate will stay the same throughout the whole loan term.

Some of the best interest rates in the market could be similar to what the average 5 year fixed rate on home loans would be at the current time, but these would usually be available for very strong applicants with good past borrowing experience and a good asset position. Also the vehicle price. how much is being borrowed against it and the term of the loan could also change what interest rate you would qualify for.

Although car loans are usually a lot easier to obtain approval on than a home loan, each and every lender has their own unique way of determining the interest rates available and this can make it all very daunting for the borrower. Good professional brokers should be able to break this down quite quickly as they should understand the lender’s policies and which option would best suit each individual application.

    Used Car Prices Australia

It is very difficult to be objective when discussing about used car prices Australia wide. Everyone has a different experience and different perceptions.

The prices can vary by states and cities too.

You actually lose a whopping amount of money just when your new car leaves the driveway of the dealership.

So you might be better off choosing good used cars rather than new ones.

As a new expat in Australia, buying a second hand car is your best option.

You are getting more value for your dollars at a time when you need to save rather than spend.

Plus you are just entering the market. You can upgrade to a new car later.

Keep in mind the basic factors that influence the price of a used car when you start doing your research:

    • year of build,
    • mileage,
    • brand,
    • service history and maintenance,
    • looks,
    • reputation of the car manufacturer.

Used Car Prices Australia, How to Do Your Research

Here are some tips to help you understand more about Australian cars and their prices:

      • Visit car websites such as Carsguide Australia – www.carsguide.com.au and Trading Post Australia www.tradingpost.com.au. With the latter you will find various other items on sale for your home needs.
      • Check the classifieds section of your local newspaper to get a feel for the private sales in your area.
      • Once you get the big picture, narrow down your research to the brand, mileage or price you feel comfortable with.
      • Then visit several car dealerships and do a test drive or more before committing. If you decide to purchase from a dealer, try to wait till the end of the month, when the pressure to achieve sales targets is higher – you might negotiate a better deal.
      • June is the best month to buy a car. It is the financial year end with bargains galore.
      • January is another good month, as dealers try to get rid of the previous year’s stock.

        Our Experience

Based on our own observations and experience and on discussions with our friends and contacts these are our conclusions:

        • Toyotas tend to be more reliable and maintain their value better, which means you pay more when you buy but can also re-sell them at a better price;
      • Holden and Ford come second in terms of resale value;
      • Mitsubishi are a bit cheaper and depreciate their value quicker;
      • low mileage European cars are more expensive to buy and maintain and take longer to re-sell when their mileage is high.

We visited several of the car auction places in Sydney and bought our first car at one of them for $4500. It was not on our short list but proved to be good value.

We bought two more privately. One was cheap and bad so we got rid of it quickly. The other was a 10 year old model with very low mileage and very well maintained. As per the ad, it had a lady owner who used it only for shopping around the corner. Quite a good buy.

Then we purchased a 2 year old model from a dealer, more expensive but better.

Top Tips when renting a car

    • Book Early – No spruiking of services here – the earlier you book the better the rate and wider choice of vehicles. With no cancellation fees or upfront costs there’s nothing to lose and no risk. Especially true for Christmas, Easter and other holiday periods.
    • Understand your Insurance cover – Talk to your rental company and understand your insurance liabilities and review your contract so you know exactly where you stand should there be an accident or vehicle damage.
    • Check your Vehicle – Before leaving the rental branch check your vehicle for any existing damage – take photos with your mobile and have a rental company employee sign off on anything you notice.
    • Return a full fuel tank – Ensure you have a full fuel tank when you return the vehicle to avoid being charged very high per litre rates (some rental companies offer a prepaid fuel tank option).

How to save on Car Hire Excess Insurance

Australian car rental insurance options. All rental cars are supplied fully insured, however the hirer, you, will be liable for an initial amount in the event of an accident or damage. This amount varies between suppliers but can be upwards of $3000. You can reduce your liability to a few hundred dollars or less by directly paying the rental company a daily fee, which generally adds around $30 per day to your rental costs.

A good alternative is to use travel insurance as many plans come with free car hire excess cover. Some Credit Card companies also provide this cover. Either of these options work well but check exactly what they do and do not cover. Remember that in the event of an accident you will need to pay the rental company the excess amount as required. You will then need to file a claim with your insurer and for peace of mind and a smooth claim process make sure you have copies of all documentation the accident and photos are another good idea.

Car Hire – Automatic or Manual Transmission?

Unlike some countries, the cost to rent a car in Australia with automatic transmission is generally the same if not cheaper than a manual. In fact the majority of rental cars in Australia are automatic. This makes renting a car that much easier for those who hold driving licenses covering only automatic vehicles.

    Car Hire Age Limits

The majority of car rental companies require drivers to be over 25 in order to hire a car. However some do provide for younger drivers in the 21-25 age bracket, the catch being a surcharge fee and restrictions on the type and size of rental cars available (generally smaller vehicles). As these fees and restrictions vary between rental companies we suggest checking the total price breakdown to determine the costs associated with the younger driver.

    Rental car Carbon Emissions

Learn more about carbon emissions from rental cars in Australia with the Australian Government’s Green Vehicle guide. Visit Eco-Ratings Car Guide for further information.

    Australian One Way car rental

Given the size of Australia, it’s not surprising that one way car rental is popular. One Way rentals refer to picking up in one car hire location and dropping off at another. There can be additional fees to cover the cost of returning the vehicle to its original hire location. One tip is to look at hiring and dropping off your car at major airports as sometimes these trips do not incur fees.

Another great way to secure a one way rental deal is Relocations. Both car and campervan rental companies often need to move their vehicles around the country. Rather than pay someone to drive the vehicle, they rent them out at crazy prices, starting from as low as a $1 a day and in the case of campervans often even throwing money in for fuel!

There are some conditions, mostly around rental days and kilometres, but for flexible travellers this is a fantastic opportunity to get a great rental deal.

Check out our One Way Campervan Rental Relocations page for deals on campers, 4 wheel drives and One Way Car Rental.

Best sites to buy used cars

We ve compiled a list of the best Web sites to buy a second-hand car in Australia

Buying a used car used to mean trekking all the way to a dealership and talking to a car salesperson; possibly one with a disturbing moustache.

Whether you want to buy a used car from a private seller or a dealer, the whole experience is now easier than ever before. Having a look at car classifieds online can save you time and, most importantly, get you a great deal. We take a look at some of the best Web sites in Australia to buy a second-hand car.

    carsales.com.au

Carsales.com.au is the largest online classifieds service for used cars in the country, with 196,974 used cars for sale when we checked it. Carsales.com.au also has trucks, caravans and motorcycles in its database.

    Car City

Car City is described as the “largest car complex of its kind in the southern hemisphere”. With a tagline like that, it’s hard to go past Car City when you’re purchasing a used car — unless you live outside of Sydney or Melbourne. However, Car City says it is looking to open new depots in Perth and Brisbane. Cars are accompanied by slideshows, complete with cheesy music.

    Gumtree

Usually associated with finding a house or apartment to rent, Gumtree is a free classified ads site in Sydney that also advertises used car sales. Gumtree is definitely worth a look if you’re on a tight budget: there’s a nifty feature of searching for cars below $5000.

    Drive

Drive offers car classifieds for both new and used cars and we like the extras that this site provides. It offers news and reviews of car models as well as handy tips for buying a used car.

    eBay

We know what you’re thinking. Buying a car on eBay can’t be safe, right? Well, because auctions on eBay are usually at least a week long, many sellers give you the option of seeing the car and test driving before you buy. However be wary that some sellers may not be willing to sell you their cars if their auction price is below the reserve. With that being said, there are thousands of used cars available to be bought outright or bid on. iPhone users can also browse and buy used cars using the eBay app for iPhone .

    Trading Post

We’re glad to see that the Trading Post has an online site and you can search private and dealer used cars on its website. A quick search found 69,372 used cars for sale in Australia.

    BMW used cars

If you’re shopping specifically for a BMW, check out this Web site: a database for many used BMWs around Australia.

    Redbook

Although it’s not technically a Web site for buying used cars, Redbook can be an extremely useful tool if you’re looking for more information about a previous model car. Price guides, average number of kilometres and the specifications of car models are available.

    Carsguide

Carsguide.com.au is another massive classifieds tool to find the used car that you have been looking for. It has very specific search options for you to use like the number of doors you want on your car (hopefully more than one), to the fuel type.

    Autoline

Autoline offers free advertising for people who want to sell their car. Buyers will also find this site useful, with around 20,000 used cars for sale.

    Home-page

Hi I’m John Bakker in 1996 I established Victorian American Imports and its quite interesting how it came about.

I just want to give you a little bit of a rundown on the history of where it all began. because it does affect you and your ownership of your American Dream Car

I used to have another company called Rival Marine in fact I still do own it and it is basically an inboard ski boat shop.

I used to run it part time, and worked elsewhere as a fitter and turner. Back in 1992 or 3, I was involved in powerboat racing and saw one of these American Chevy pickups at one of the race boat meetings and fell in love with it. It was awesome!!

So, in 95 I went over to the States with another guy and we bought 2 of them together, we brought them back into Australia and had them converted by someone in Melbourne.

After about 13 weeks we got the cars back and I was very disappointed in what I finished up with. So, having a mechanical background and being a perfectionist for quality. I fixed up most things I wasn t happy with as best I could because there is really only so much you can fix after the job has been stuffed up by someone else!

I eventually sold the vehicle and bought another one in from the States which I converted myself. And to the quality and standard that I wanted, like I said I am a stickler for quality workmanship!

My friends and other boat competitors in the powerboat sport started asking me, Where d you get it? Can you get me one? and before I knew it I had 6 to do.

So, here we are in this small workshop fixing, repairing and building boats with fibreglass and so on in one corner and, in the other corner we re converting Chevy pickups, so, pretty much that s the beginning of it.

Little did I know then that today I would be the owner and director of Victorian American Imports. Rival Marine and the newly formed American Automotive Australia

With my company s roots involved in top boat level racing, (we still retain Australian Racing Records not yet beaten ) to achieve those unmatched results there has to be a high level of engineering and development. That and my stickler for quality and perfection has been passed on to produce a top quality, world class left to right hand drive conversion.

And this is not just a play on words, I am a stickler for quality! Ask my staff and more importantly read the testimonies of my clients, some have bought multiple vehicles from me over the years!

In early 2000’s the industry was quite messy and there was all sorts of “weird and “wonderful” things happening, with rising complaints the Federal Government In 2003 began to bring in regulatory changes and one of those was the introduction of the Registered Automotive Workshop Scheme (R.A.W.S system ).

For us, this was great news! Because it meant the shady import convertors would have to conform or close up shop.

It was at this time my company, Victorian American Imports set the industry standard by becoming the first Australian Company to be approved to convert American pickups and SUV s to right hand drive. In fact we became the benchmark for the whole industry. Something I am proud of and proves that integrity and quality will always outlast compromise and poor quality.

Since then, Victorian American Imports has had a number of other firsts, including the introduction of the Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade range to the Australian market.

We are now one of the largest importers of GM vehicles within Australia, Victorian American Imports—American Automotive Australia has also expanded internationally and is now exporting Right Hand Drive Conversions to the world market.

The full range of Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Avalanche, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet SSR, GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon, Dodge Ram, Cadillac Escalade and Hummer H2 s are now available through Victorian American Imports—American Automotive Australia .

    Our range of conversions includes:

    Driving

Vast and diverse, Australia offers visitors everything from coral reefs to snowy mountains and cosmopolitan cities. You ll need your own set of wheels to tour the spectacular coasts, red centre and national parks of this huge country, with driving through the outback a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

    Driving Tips for Australia

Navigating Australian roads is easy, even in the country s biggest cities. While the rewards of driving in remote areas are great, travellers should make sure they are properly equipped with spare fuel and water before hitting the tarmac.

Driving licences: a valid UK driving licence permits a driver to drive in Australia for up to three months. An International Driving Permit must accompany licences written in languages other than English.

Which side does Australia drive on: the left.

    Speed limits:

    Highways and freeways: 68-81mph (110-130kph)

Major roads and small highways: 37-56mph (60-90kph)

    Outside built-up areas: 62-68mph (100-110kph)

    Built-up areas: 31-37mph (50-60kph)

    School zones: 16-25mph (25-40kph)

Alcohol limits: stricter than the UK limit of 0.08 percent, at 0.05 per cent. Random breath tests are common. Offenders face a court appearance and a fine or suspension of license.

Driving age: 16 to 18 years depending on state or territory; 21 to 24 years for car hire.

Seatbelts: mandatory for all passengers, if fitted. Children under seven years must be seated in an appropriate child restraint.

Mobile phones and GPS: the use of a mobile phone while driving is only permitted in conjunction with a hands-free kit. Dashboard GPS units are legal.

Cost of fuel in Australia: cheap, at around 50 per cent of the cost of fuel in the UK.

Car hire and fuel payment: both petrol stations and car hire suppliers accept payment by major credit cards.

Insurance: basic insurance is included with car hire but optional excess reduction is recommended.

Traffic and parking: city traffic is typically congested at peak times, but navigating cities by car outside of rush hours is often as fast as using public transport. City car parks are expensive while metered street parking has strict time limits, yet train station parking is often free. Outside urban areas, parking is easy to find.

    Transport

Australia s rail network is rather limited, partly due to the sheer distances between most major cities. Taking the train is a more expensive, slower, yet often more scenic, alternative to flying. The train can be a good choice for accessing regional towns that don t have airports. Some of the most popular routes are: Adelaide to Alice Springs and Darwin, Brisbane to Cairns and Sydney to Perth, operated by Great Southern Railways. Additionally, most major cities have suburban rail networks, with Sydney also boasting light rail and monorail lines. Single inner-city train rides typically cost between 2.00 and 4.00.

An SUV, short for sport utility vehicle, is a vehicle which is designed to offer the driver practicality and adventure in their driving experience.

SUV s are characterised by having both on and off road capabilities with towing abilities. They also have spacious interiors with room for your friends, family and storage capacity.

    SUV On Off Road Capabilities

Kia s ranges of SUV s are ideal for those wanting a car with both on and off road capabilities. These capabilities enable you to drive with ease on both busy, narrow city streets and open off road dirt tracks.

Both the Kia Sportage and Kia Sorento SUV have AWD capabilities which offer the driver with more control as they navigate difficult roads. The differential between the two shafts in SUV s with AWD capabilities allows the front and back wheels to spin at different speeds without being locked together.

For those drivers who do need to navigate between both on and off roads, an SUV with AWD capabilities is ideal as it is permanently on allowing you peace of mind when you move suddenly between terrains.

Enjoy Interior Space Comfort In An SUV

Choose from either the 5 seat Sportage or the Kia Sorento SUV depending on your seating needs.

Either way, you are sure to have plenty of room for all your family and friends, whether going on a family holiday or an off road adventure with mates.

As the driver you need to be sure to drive with comfort and with features such as 8-way power driver s seat with lumbar support, you can be sure to drive in comfort for the short and long drives.

With foldable rear seats in both the Sorento and Sportage you can not only conveniently store smaller items such as sunglasses but also larger equipment and bulkier items such as luggage.

This increases to a maximum of 2000kg on vehicles such as the Sorento.

SUV s are traditionally thought to be fuel guzzlers. This is not the case at Kia.

Don t be fooled by our SUV s size and capabilities! The Kia Sorento is an SUV which delivers exceptional performance; its high fuel efficiency adds to this. The 2.2L Diesel engine uses only 7.3L of fuel per 100 km. Not only is this SUV fuel efficient but powerful, producing 145kW of power and 436Nm of torque.

    Improved Functionality

Depending on your body and strength, SUV s can be tricky to get in and out of. By adding an aluminium side step set you are able to tackle this issue and make travelling in an SUV an enjoyable experience for all those involved.

Whether you have your grandparents visiting or young children, Kia s accessories help with improving the functionality of an SUV.

    Increased Storage

Sure, you have ample boot space in all Kia SUVs, but there are also certain items you may not be able to store in there such as a bicycle. Also, if you have a car at full capacity you may not be able to fold down rear seats to increase storage capacity.

It is at times like this that you may need add ons such as roof racks or roof pods to make sure all your passengers travel in comfort and you have the ability to transport all you need for that weekend adventure.

    Kia SUVs

    Kia Sorento

The Kia Sorento is an award winning SUV which offers the driver style, comfort and practicality.

    Kia Sportage

With a striking exterior which exudes power and sophistication, the Kia Sportage looks great.

This defined exterior is just an indication of the cars exceptional abilities and features such as electric power steering which puts the power in your hands. This car has our seven year factory warranty as standard as well as a five star ANCAP safety rating which can put your mind at ease as you navigate off roads.

CarLoans.com.au can provide you a free car loan assessment, this assessment will determine what loan product suits your needs best as well as providing you with the interest repayments – click here to get a free assessment

Pensioner Loans – Low Income Loans Australia #quick #loans #australia

    Pensioner Loans

As a pensioner you may find it difficult to qualify for a loan from the banks. A big obstacle that most many pensioners face is being on a fixed income that really only covers living expenses with little left over. Banks and other large lenders tend to view this as a negative in their approval criteria among other things. Whilst the banks may not be a great option for obtaining financial help, there are other flexible options.

    Eligibility
If you have struggled with debt and have late repayments in your financial history, your credit rating would reflect this. Being considered a bad credit risk can eliminate you from consideration for certain types of loans. Fortunately, there are still financial programs listed below that can provide assistance.

As with any type of loan, you will need to provide your personal and financial details along with income sources.

    Compare Pensioner Loan Options

    • Always search for online complaints
    • Use comparison sites but be wary, many of these sites only promote lenders that advertise with them. They may not disclose the actual best loans for pensioners.
