Serena Williams And Amy Schumer Featured In The 2016 Pirelli Calendar
Since 1964, tire maker Pirelli has been producing calendars. Each of the twelve months are usually graced by a scantily clad female photographed in an artistic manor. The calendars, still filling their role as a marketing device, have carried many different themes through the decades, though never departing too far from the soft-core exposure of the feminine form.
That has changed for 2016.
Shot by photographer Annie Leibovitz. the upcoming edition takes a new approach to the annual publication. Gone are the seductive stares of bare-breasted 20-somethings, replaced by the weathered, soft smiles of well-known women who have, in several cases, spent decades making a name for themselves by bullishly fighting for their place in modern society.
The lineup of ladies includes the hugely influential Yao Chen and Tavi Gevinson, two actress and social media moguls, along with pop culture icons Yoko Ono and Patti Smith. Tennis legend Serena Williams and comedian Amy Schumer are present, as well as film director Ava DuVernay and film producer Kathleen Kennedy, whose latest works include Selma and the newest installment of Star Wars. respectively.
The traditional model-type isn’t completely abandoned, as the Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova appears on January’s page. Her look, however, falls right in line with the other women in the calendar. A strong motherly presence shines through the image as she holds her baby while draped in a satin robe. It’s sensual, yet very tasteful.
The very fact I’m writing this (and you are reading this) shows Pirelli’s well-hatched plan of deviating from the normal. Perhaps the cue was taken from Playboy. which announced in October that its monthly magazine would no longer feature nude photographs. Regardless of Pirelli’s inspiration, its 2016 calendar is getting far more attention than it otherwise would have. Suddenly it’s popular to be PG-13.

2016 Audi RS Q3 By ABT Sportsline
First unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the Audi RS Q3 has developed quite a nice following over in Europe. I wish I could say the same thing here in the US, but since it’s not available in this part of the world, any form of chest-beating for the high-powered crossover would be irrelevant.
Audi seems to be perfectly happy with the reception the RS Q3 has received across the Atlantic and customers in that area are just as happy knowing that German tuner ABT Sportsline has just unveiled a tuning kit for the high-powered Q3 crossover.
The kit is typical ABT Sportsline. No flash, all substance. Sure, it has some decal stripes to add some flavor to the RS Q3’s appearance, but everything else included in the kit is there for the purpose of improving the crossover’ s performance and handling capabilities. The engine upgrade, in particular, is impressive. Same thing with the suspension modifications that resulted in a lower and wider stance for the RS Q3.
There’s a lot to like about this new kit for the RS Q3. The fact that it comes from ABT Sportsline is probably the least surprising thing about it.

2016 McLaren MP4-X Concept
McLaren has had a rough 2015 Formula One season, with its new Honda power unit not living up to expectations. Having finished the season next to last in the constructors championship standings, 2016 can only be an improvement for the Brits. But, despite not being able to win a single race in 2015, McLaren made tremendous progress toward the end of the season and even designed a brand-new Formula One car, the MP4-X.
Unfortunately, the MP4-X isn t the company s race car for 2016, but a conceptual vision for the future of Formula One. I say unfortunately only because we won t get to see it on the race track anytime soon; otherwise, this concept car is as cool and futuristic as they get. Not only because it looks as if it came from the future, but because it packs an enormous amount of technology that s likely to become the norm in a few years.
“With the futuristic McLaren MP4-X concept race car, we wanted to peer into the future and imagine the art of the possible. We have combined a number of F1’s key ingredients – speed, excitement and performance, with the sport’s emerging narratives – such as enclosed cockpits to enhance driver safety, and hybrid power technologies,” said John Allert, Group Brand Director of McLaren Technology.
There s no word as to when this concept race car will be shown to the public, but until that happens you can have a closer look at all the technology behind it in our review below.

Citroen C4 Cactus Wins 2015 World Car Design Of The Year Award
As with each edition of the awards, the candidates were first reviewed by a panel consisting of five highly respected design experts. The 75 World Car Awards jurors then voted on the expert’s recommendations. World Car Design of the Year candidates are required to be available in quantities of at least 10 in one major market during the period beginning January 1st, 2014 and ending May 31st, 2015.
“The Cactus is a truly innovative piece of design. It has an appealingly distinct exterior announced first by its slender upper front lights, proportions slightly different to any other car, and by those stand-out ‘air-bumps’ that help safeguard against parking scrapes. Inside it eschews lots of dials and buttons for a very minimal uncluttered approach: controls centered on and around a central digital screen and many of the core surfaces and volumes kept linear, reduced, and pleasantly un-car-like. The Cactus design is a proper breath of fresh air,” the experts that favored the C4 Cactus concluded.
This is the second Citroen to win the World Car Design of the Year, after the C4 won the inaugural edition in 2006.

2016 Chevrolet Cruze
All in all, it’s a solid update in a time when crossovers seem to reign supreme, giving hope to those who like their cars without the pseudo-SUV proportions.
The numbers do well to back the Cruze’s popularity – in 2014, total Cruze sales in the U.S. rang to the tune of 273,060, a 10 percent increase over 2013. In fact, the Cruze is Chevy’s best-selling car around the world, moving a total of 3.5 million units since it went on sale in 2008. It’s also decidedly aimed at younger buyers, currently boasting as the segment’s second-best selling vehicle for customers under the age of 25.
Chevy hopes the latest iteration of the Cruze will capitalize on the first-gen’s successes and carry forward with even higher sales numbers. Read on to see how exactly the bow tie plans to do that.
Updated 11/18/2015: Chevrolet announced prices for the 2016 Cruze which will be put on sale next spring. The model will be offered in four trim levels: L, LS, LT and Premier with prices starting from $17,495.

2017 Renault Grand Captur
We first saw the Captur Concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, then in 2013, Renault gave us the production-ready Captur at the same show. The car went on sale in France shortly thereafter and has been produced ever since. Because it s so new, it s not surprising we haven’t seen a facelifted model yet, but our spy photographers recently caught a Renault prototype testing under heavy camo, and we have reason to believe it s the new Grand Captur.
According to our sources, Renault insiders have confirmed that a longer-wheelbase Captur is in the pipeline. With that information and these spy shots, it’s evident we’re getting a first look at that new model. As you can see, the car in camo has a lot of the same design cues as the current Captur, but it’s clearly bigger. Given the fact the car is already this far into testing, we could see it in showrooms for the 2017 model year – about the same time we expect to see the facelifted Captur.
Alain Prost Test-Drives The Renault Talisman: Video
Four-time Formula One world champion Alain Prost is an incredibly tough man to please, especially when you put him in a car with the intent of asking to review it. That comes with the territory of someone who knows what he’s talking about anytime he takes the wheel of a car. Renault, however, doesn’t appear to be worried about Prost’s incredibly high standards because in its mind, it has the car that can impress the Frenchman. That car is the new Talisman, Renault’s new mid-size saloon.
Granted, Prost’s status as a brand ambassador for Renault will cause suspicions on his objectivity. To his credit though, he does do a good job of calling it the way he sees, or in this case, feels it. During his time with the Talisman, Prost gives the mid-sized sedan a meticulous commentary, running through the minutiae of the car’s four-point steering and going into detail on the effectiveness of the shock absorption.
These are the kinds of things that a driver like Prost can notice without even thinking about it. He even performs a few driving tests on the Talisman to see how the car responds to these conditions. In the end, it’s not all that surprising to hear Prost rave about the Talisman. He is, after all, associated with the brand. But, his ties to the company notwithstanding, it’s still important to hear a running commentary of a new car from somebody with the knowledge and experience of Prost. At the very least, it gives us a fresh perspective from someone who has probably spent more time in cars that most of us put together.
Only time will tell if Prost’s observations about the Talisman are shared by its future customers. Hopefully, the car validates Prost’s observations and lives up to the hype. It’s arguably one of the freshest models Renault has released in quite some time and it would be a shame if it ends up falling short of its buzz.
2015 Skoda Fabia
“[The new Skoda Fabia] is compact and offers lots of space for passengers and their luggage, a modern crisp design and great efficiency and safety, bringing together all of Skoda brand values,” says Skoda CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland. “In designing the third generation, our aim was to bring innovative technology into the small car segment. Our focus was on the environment, fuel efficiency, safety and comfort.”
Next to the Octavia, the Fabia is Skoda’s second best-selling car. It originally debuted in 1999, and the automaker has sold roughly 3.5 million Fabias worldwide, a figure it hopes to add to with the 2015 model.
2015 Skoda Octavia vRS 230
Czech automaker Skoda began producing the Octavia way back in 1996, then it introduced the second-gen model in 2004 and the third-gen model in 2013. It was the start of the third-generation that saw the introduction of the vRS model, which was a more performance-oriented version of the compact liftback sedan. And now with the Geneva Auto Show set to start on March 3, 2015, Skoda is primed to unveil a special version of the vRS dubbed the Octavia vRS 230.
With a few more PS, the vRS 230 is officially the fastest Octavia ever built. The problem is that Skoda lives under the Volkswagen umbrella, and anything it can do, VW can do better. This means that regardless of how much leash VW gives Skoda to beef up the Octavia, it always leaves a little something in reserve to bump up the Octavia’s more expensive platform mate, the Passat.
Does the vRS 230 badge and its added power give the Octavia the oomph it needs to finally one-up the Passat?

2016 Ford C-Max Energi
It has become pretty clear that here in America, we like people to know when we do something good for the environment. It is arguably why the Toyota Prius has done so well, as it can’t be confused for a gas-only vehicle. Ford decided to take that to heart here in the U.S. by releasing the hybrid and plug-in C-Max. The model itself is available in Europe with gasoline- and diesel-only power plants, but not on this side of the drink.
The C-Max has actually be around since 2003 in Europe, but until it got a facelift in 2007, it was known as the Ford Focus C-Max. The name change came when ford decided it wanted to have a “Max” branded line of multi-purpose vehicles. We first saw the Plug-in energy back in 2011 and the North American International Auto Show. and it was finally launched for the 2013 model year as five-seater. Initially there was to be a seven-seater variant here in the U.S. but those plans were eventually canceled before the car’s official launch.
The 2016 Ford C-Max Hybrid and C-Max Energi are practically the same in most aspects, but the Energi has a much larger battery pack than its hybrid brethren – allowing it to achieve electric-only operation and higher fuel economy numbers. Let’s take a deeper look at the 2016 Ford C-Max Energi.

2015 BMW M4 Coupe M Performance Edition
Taking its cues from a handful of other special edition M4s released before it, the M4 Coupe M Performance Edition comes with a bevy of upgrades to the exterior and interior, although most of it can be found on the body of the sports coupe. Oddly enough, the M4 Coupe M Performance Edition doesn’t have any performance upgrades, although some of the new components on the exterior of the M4 can be described as “performance-enhancing.”
Another downside to this special edition M4 is its availability. BMW’s only making this available in Japan so unless you live in the Land of the Rising Sun, you’re not going to get access to buying any of the 17 units BMW is building of the M4 Coupe M Performance Edition.
2016 Mazda MX-5 RS
Anyone considering Mazda MX-5 ownership is probably concerned with one overarching attribute – fun. Not fun in the sense of tire-melting acceleration or space-time-denting speed, but the kind of fun that can only be had in taking a turn at the limits of adhesion as each contact patch talks directly to the driver’s spine. You could call it driving dynamics, or tossability, or even just handling if you want to be clinical about it. Either way, Mazda knows all about this kind of fun, and nowhere is it more prevalent than in the MX-5. Now, Mazda is offering the new MX-5 RS, which adds suspension upgrades and better interior equipment to the iconic drop-top, all with the aim of upping the fun factor to even loftier levels.
We’ve seen RS’ed versions of the MX-5 in the past, but this is the first time the badge has made it to the latest fourth-generation roadster. Mazda says the new suspension changes make for better control at high speeds, with cleaner weight transition when sailing through the corners. It’s also very affordable.
Sounds awesome, right? Well, I might as well break it to you now – the new MX-5 RS won’t be sold anywhere outside of Japan. Commence the waterworks.
