Saratoga CoWorks offers professionals state-of-the-art shared workspace

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY One year after opening its doors, Saratoga CoWorks is enjoying great success thanks to the growing popularity of the coworking concept.

Located in the Regent Springs Building (formerly the Skidmore College Theater at 153 Regent Street), Saratoga CoWorks offers a fully-equipped communal workspace where independent business professionals, entrepreneurs, and freelancers can rent workspace by the day or monthly.

Completely renovated prior to opening in early 2014, Saratoga CoWorks was designed by owners Dorothy Rogers-Bullis and Daniel Bullis (who also own drb Business Interiors) using top-quality, ergonomic office furniture from Knoll, HON, Artopex, National, SitOnIt, and ERG.

The space boasts state-of-the-art technology including enterprise-class Wi-Fi, and private conference and meeting rooms equipped with projectors and Apple TVs. With whiteboard walls, a kitchenette, natural light, personal storage space, and free on-street parking, Saratoga CoWorks offers independent workers the comforts of home with the amenities of a traditional office.

Meeting the demand for coworking space

As more companies allow employees to telecommute, and an increasing number of people are working independently from home, the desire for coworking facilities has grown. Many of these work-from-home professionals have realized that the isolation of their home office is not all it is cracked up to be, and achieving a work-life balance is challenging when the lines between home and work become blurred. These are often the people who turn to a coworking setup.

“Coworking involves a shared work environment where independent professionals and entrepreneurs can collaborate and flourish,” said Dorothy Rogers-Bullis. “We designed Saratoga CoWorks to encourage interaction among the diverse individuals who utilize this workspace and to offer an infrastructure for member participation and growth.”

A distinctive shared work environment

With its top-of-the-line furniture and electronic equipment, Saratoga CoWorks is unlike any other shared workspace in the area.

“We saw an unmet need for a well-designed, professional coworking space in Saratoga Springs,” continued Rogers-Bullis. “While most traditional offices focus on private workspaces, we wanted to create a unique facility with open spaces for open minds–where positive, creative energy could flow freely.”

“Saratoga CoWorks offers the flexibility to use the facility as much or as little as needed,” notes Daniel Bullis. “Monthly members have 24/7 access to the space, but we also offer daily rates for people who may be in town temporarily or have a one-day need for a meeting space for a group presentation or work session.”

The space offers benefits to start-ups as well as more established businesses.

“For new companies that are just getting started, Saratoga CoWorks provides them with a professional appearance, as well as a physical office address,” continued Bullis. “And for the seasoned company, we simplify the process of leasing and maintaining office space; the monthly membership includes all utilities and amenities.”

Connect, compose, collaborate

Saratoga CoWorks offers an array of packages and membership options. Rates start at $25 per day, and monthly memberships range from $250 to $350. For more information or to schedule a tour of Saratoga CoWorks, please call Dorothy Rogers-Bullis at 518-306-5233, or visit www.saratogacoworks.com.

Blood Tests to Diagnose Arthritis

If your doctor suspects you have arthritis. he or she may have your blood drawn to determine which type of arthritis you have. In people with osteoarthritis. blood tests are not usually abnormal, but with other types of arthritis. including rheumatoid arthritis. certain tests will help with a proper diagnosis.

Here is a review of the different types of blood tests and markers used to diagnose arthritis and other inflammatory conditions.

What Blood Markers Are Used to Diagnose Rheumatoid Arthritis?

Rheumatoid factors are a variety of antibodies that are present in 70% to 90% of people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Rheumatoid factor (RF), however, can be found in people without RA or with other autoimmune disorders. In general, when no rheumatoid factor is present in someone with RA, the course of the disease is less severe.

Another test for rheumatoid arthritis that measures levels of antibodies that bind citrulline modified proteins (anti-CCP) is more specific and tends to be elevated in patients with rheumatoid arthritis or in those about to develop rheumatoid arthritis. The presence of anti-CCP antibodies can be used to predict which patients will get more severe rheumatoid arthritis.

Are There Tests to Determine Inflammation?

Yes. The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) reflects the degree of inflammation in the body. In healthy people, the ESR is low and it climbs with inflammation. It doesn’t point to any particular disease, but is a general indication of the amount of inflammation in the body. In lupus and polymyalgia rheumatica. the ESR often correlates with disease activity.

C-reactive protein (CRP) levels are an even better indication than ESR of the amount of inflammation present. In people with rheumatoid arthritis, if the CRP is high, it suggests that there is significant inflammation or injury in the body.

Both CRP and ESR levels are used to monitor disease activity and to monitor how well someone is responding to treatment.

What Tests Indicate Disorders Like Lupus?

The ANA profile is a series of tests that measure the presence of abnormal antibodies. The profile helps your doctor look for diseases such as Sjögren’s syndrome. lupus. drug-induced lupus, polymyostitis, and scleroderma .

When the ANA is positive, it indicates that you may have an autoimmune disorder, but the test alone can’t make a reliable diagnosis. If the ANA is negative, it is likely that you don’t have lupus.

What Does the Presence of HLA-B27 Indicate?

HLA-B27 is a genetic marker. In people with inflammatory arthritis of the spine and joints (not osteoarthritis ), a positive HLA-B27 test is associated with the presence of one of a group of diseases called seronegative spondyloarthropathies. This includes diseases such as ankylosing spondylitis (AS), psoriatic arthritis. and Reiter’s syndrome (also called reactive arthritis ). HLA-B27 is present in about 90% of people with AS, but the gene can also be seen in people with no sign of arthritis or inflammation.

What Does It Mean if Muscle Enzymes Are High?

When muscle enzymes — creatine phosphokinase (CPK) and aldolase — are high, it indicates a possible inflammatory muscle disease. Higher levels of CPK can also be seen after trauma, injections into a muscle, muscle disease due to an underactive thyroid. and while taking certain medications such as cholesterol -lowering statin drugs.

What Are Antineutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies (ANCA)?

ANCA are abnormal antibodies found in the blood in most people with Wegener’s granulomatosis. a disease that affects the upper respiratory tract, lungs. and kidneys. They are uncommon in other diseases, which makes them useful in diagnosing this particular disease. ANCA levels are sometimes used to follow the course of Wegener’s granulomatosis .

What Is the Complement System?

The complement system is made up of a network of proteins that involve the immune system and inflammation. Decreased levels of various components of complement — C3, C4, or CH50 — can be seen in lupus. Other diseases that involve inflammation of the blood vessels — called vasculitis — can also have decreased levels of complement in the blood. In some cases of lupus, particularly those with kidney disease, complement levels are used to follow the illness because they may rise and fall according to the activity of the disease.

What Are Cryoglobulins?

Cryoglobulins are antibodies that may be high in a variety of different diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Sjögren’s syndrome, Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia, multiple myeloma. lymphoproliferative disorders, hepatitis B and C, and other infections.

Charity Boat Donations – Donate Boat

Whether it is a speedboat, sailboat, schooner, yacht, canoe, dinghy dory, johnboat, paddleboat, skiff, motorboat, houseboat, tug, shrimper, whaler etc. there is no better charity to give your watercraft to. We do our best with every donation, no matter what is presented to us.

We are aware that many charitable organizations depend on the generosity of their donors to fund their programs. Most organizations are not equipped for the complications that go along with the complex transfer of motorized vessels. We have processed thousands of boats that include center consoles, sailboats, sport fish, yachts and ski boats, We have handled boats that were smaller as well, including small bass fishing boats, personal watercraft and aluminum row boats. We handle vessels of all shapes and sizes because we specialize in donations of boats. We appreciate our donors and we do our best to assist them through the process.

Transferring a watercraft is more difficult than simply writing a check or donating furniture to charity. Boat Angel Donation Center understands the complexities of transferring both USCG documented

boats and transferring boat with state titles and registrations. We also understand the complexities of boats being picked up from storage yards, marinas and private residences. We will do our utmost to make sure the donation process is as smooth as possible. Boat Angel will work to transfer your vessel with a minimum amount of hassle.

Title transfers and lien releases can be complex. We can help you understand these documents and process them with you at the Coast Guard documentation center. We can help you find the forms and apply for duplicate titles and registrations. We can help you execute power of attorney forms and work with you on your state and federal transfers. If you have an inherited boat we can help you obtain the proper forms needed to transfer your vessel from the estate.

We pledge to treat all our watercraft, boat or vessel donors with courtesy. From the first contact to the completion of the process, you can be assured that the Boat Angel staff will do its best by offering every courtesy possible.

Your contribution to us in the form of a watercraft is eligible for a tax deduction. You will be provided with form 1098-C which will enable you to avail of this tax benefit.

International Relief for Orphans and Third World Children.

Boat Angel donations have been instrumental in providing substantial funding for countless international preschool and grade school aged children in the poorest countries of the world. The areas we have reached include Mozambique, Sudan, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Mexico, Nigeria, Kenya, Philippines and India. We have generously funded educational pursuits, school feeding programs, printing of educational materials and provided for teachers, and computers. This was all accomplished by the sale of thousands of boats, jet skis, trailers and motorcycles. We are thankful to our generous donors.

Juvenile and Adult Motivational Prison Literature Campaign

Boat Angel’s literacy program has impacted hundreds of thousands of inmates in youth, state and federal prisons. By converting money received from the sale of boat donations to publishing we have enabled the production of thousands of pieces of religious and motivational materials which have been sent post paid free of charge to prison chaplains and prison libraries in every state of the Union. The proceeds from boat donations have funded these programs.

Total Medical Operations and Training.

Boat Angel’s sponsorship of Mercy Ships, Compassion and World Vision has provided operations, training and needed medicine for thousands. Our participation in these worthy programs have been entirely funded through the sale of boats on our charity boat sales website. We are thankful for the opportunity to help those who have no medical care. Please consider the poor when it comes time to dispose of your used boat or jet ski.

Christian Discipleship Training.

Boat Angel sponsorship of teachers and trainers has enabled many at-risk youth worldwide and saved them from unproductive lives on the street where youths often engage in dangerous and illegal behavior. Our support of worthy teenage programs have been funded with boat donations. Children and teenagers need guidance and direction to prevent them from entering a life of crime. Help us help them.

These children’s programs are full of original songs and make a dramatic impact on young lives. The series is viewed by millions of preschoolers worldwide in several languages and with subtitles. Our programs are airing in many areas of the world.

King’s Man.

Boat Angel has recently produced an original feature film hoping to shine the light on the problem of child kidnapping and slavery. The film was completed in August 2010 listed on IMDB and has been shown internationally over a well watched satellite network. Our films are geared to the growing teenage market and are sent free of charge to both high schools and broadcasters. A Public Service Campaign was created to help prevent future child kidnapping and to add in creating resources to find children that have been kidnapped.

Hundreds of children are reached weekly at three main services in Lima, and in India children.

Northern Light Orchestra is our Boat Angel Sponsored Project geared to bring a meaningful Christmas experience to families throughout the United States. Over thirty-seven songs were recorded about the Immaculate Conception, the Nativity, the Three Wisemen, all the music was written to help people “Celebrate Christmas.” It is our goal that everyone can share the Spirit of Christmas and realize that the Baby Jesus was Emmanuel which means God with us. Free Sample CD’s are available by request from our office. Bookings are being sought for the television special show filmed in 2009-2010. Children’s Evangelism.

Children are the Future nearly 60% of our world population is under twenty years old. As the children go so goes the world. The most important thing we can do is reach our children with quality programs and outreaches that will not only mold them into good citizens of our world but good citizens of the Kingdom of God as well. Boat Angel continually reaches out to children through our multiple soccer camp and bible training outreaches using our Donkey Ollie book series. Worldwide there is an increase of out of wedlock pregnancies, divorce, and crimes against children, it is more important now than ever to equip children with the tools of survival. There is no greater tool than prayer and faith in God.

Why You Should NOT Buy a New Car

17 Oct 2012 by Ben

Welcome to the 5th  Smart Money Debate at ReadyForZero . To see the other side  of this debate, read Miranda s post: Why You Should Buy a New Car (Not Used). And then let us know which argument was more convincing!

Buying new things is fun. I love unwrapping the shiny packaging, opening up the box, and smelling the factory made scent of something brand new. There is nothing quite like holding something in your hands that nobody else has ever used. It makes you feel well special.

You know what makes me feel even more special than buying something brand new? Saving money. That is why almost everything I purchase is used. Don t get me wrong I m not one to purchase a used pair of Hanes. However, with most items, you can find great deals if you are willing to buy used. This is especially true when it comes to major purchases like cars.

While I wouldn t recommend buying any old lemon, buying used cars is the only thing that makes sense financially. Our family has purchased new before, and we consider it to be one of the biggest financial mistakes we have ever made. Here is why we will never buy a new car again and neither should you!

Reason #1: New Cars Don t Hold Their Value

We ve all heard this before, but it bears repeating: a new car begins losing value the minute that you drive it off the lot. How much value you ask? According to Edmunds.com, a new car loses approximately 10% of its value as soon as you drive away. 10%. Furthermore, it loses about 20% of its value after the first year, and 10% off the original purchase price per year after that. Depending on the make and model of your new car, you may have lost up to 80% of the value from the purchase price within 5 years!

Get offers for lower-interest rate debt consolidation loans here on ReadyForZero!

Check your rate using ReadyForZero’s free debt consolidation tool. People have saved thousands by consolidating higher-interest debts using a single, personal loan, this will not negatively impact your credit. Check Your Rate Now

Would you invest $25,000 in the stock market if you knew that you were going to lose $2,500 the moment you completed the transaction? Would you buy a house for $200,000 if you knew for a fact that it would only be worth $180,000 the minute you were handed the key and $160,000 a year later. Of course you wouldn t! No sane person would. Why would you do the same thing with a car? Let somebody take that huge financial hit by buying the new car. Then, you can take advantage of their silliness and buy the car used after they trade it in a few years later.

Reason #2: Used Cars are Cheaper

Since new cars are clearly a poor investment, it makes sense that the sticker price for used cars is far less expensive than the newer models. For instance, a brand new 2012 Toyota Prius is currently selling for around $28,500. Earlier this year, we were able to purchase a used 2009 Prius with under 25,000 miles for only $17,500. While red isn t exactly my favorite color, I was happy to suffer through it in order to save $11,000.

Reason #3: Less Worry

You know the nervous feeling that you get when you buy something new? You become very protective of it. You don t want anything to spill or scratch it. You re so proud of it that you want it to stay looking all brand new and shiny for forever. That is why you bought the product new in the first place. Afterall, what good is a new car if it doesn t actually look new.

I hate to tell you this, but eventually everything that is new is going to become blemished. When it does, you may be devastated especially if you spent as much money on it as you would a car. Why not save yourself all of that worry, headache, and stress? Just buy your cars used. A nick, dent, or scratch doesn t seem like such a big deal then.

Reason #4: Warranties are Available

People who tell you to buy a new car will tout the great warranties with which new cars come. Guess what. Most used cars will come with a warranty as well. In fact, the most important warranty the manufacturer s powertrain warranty should still be in effect as long as the car has not exceeded its age or mileage limits. This warranty covers all of the big stuff that might break like your engine or transmission. So, the warranty argument doesn t really hold water. If the warranty is in effect, the argument that you are going to have to pay for more repairs to a used car than you would for a new car doesn t really work either.

Reason #5: A New Car is a Bad Investment

Have I mentioned that a new car loses 10% of its value the moment you drive it off the lot and 20% of its value over the first year alone. Oh, I did? Good. Well, this is so important that I m mentioning it again. If that new car smell is still tempting you, go back and read Reason #1 to help snap you back into reality. Then, go out and buy a New Car Smell air freshener to put in your used car, and save yourself thousands of dollars.

As you can see, buying a new car is not the best decision for your finances. While that new car smell may make you feel like you are loaded, buying a new car is just another way of trying to look wealthy. It is a status symbol that savvy spenders can do without. If you re in the market for a new car, do yourself a favor and buy a used one instead.

Car Insurance For Women

Quality car insurance for female drivers

Years of loyalty and ever increasing No Claims Bonus seem to count for little when the renewal quote lands on your doorstep and you find that your premium has increased yet again.

Here at Adrian Flux . we take a more enlightened approach to insuring more lady drivers and are pleased to be able to offer cheaper premiums to demonstrably safer drivers, without subsidising riskier drivers. When you ring us, you can be sure that we’ll pull out all the stops to get you the best deal. And we try to base our rates are on underwriting experience and real data which shows us which drivers are most likely to be safer.

Because safe drivers tend to drive fewer miles, have certain jobs, choose certain cars and use them in particular ways, we can offer highly competitive quotes, whatever your age and whatever you drive.

Unlike most of our competitors, who use computer systems and pre-set rates to calculate your premium, our team of insurance boffins will negotiate on your behalf with over 40 insurance companies and work out the best possible quote for you, using their knowledge of the hundreds of schemes on offer.

And our staff are based, not in a foreign call centre, but right here in Norfolk, so you can be sure that they will have a good understanding of your car and life in the UK.

Women you can save money on car insurance

Our policies are already amazingly cheap, but you could save yourself even more money if you follow our simple tips for getting the best possible premiums.

  • Will you only drive a few thousand miles a year? Tell us, so we can offer you a limited mileage policy. which will bring your premium down dramatically. Why pay for miles you will never drive?
  • If you’ve only recently passed your test as a mature or young driver, get yourself a PassPlus, Institute of Advanced Motoring or NVQ qualification and we can knock up to 25% off your premium. All of these schemes give the newly qualified driver additional skills. These schemes have been shown to vastly reduce the likelihood of accidents involving drivers who have taken it. And that means cheaper insurance.
  • If you’ve installed a top specification In Car Entertainment or Satellite Navigation system, you should tell us, so that we can make sure it’s covered.
  • Have you spent thousands bringing a classic car back up to mint condition? Or modified your car with all the latest kit? We can assess your car and agree cover for its true value. so you won’t get a nasty surprise if you need to make a claim. We can even offer agreed valuation over the phone in many cases.
  • Are you in an owners club or online forum. If not consider joining one. There are clubs for every make and model, as well as several clubs aimed at female drivers. Girls who are enthusiastic about their car and learn all they can about it will take better care of it, which is why you could get an extra discount of up to 15%.
  • Do you go on car rallies or track days? Track day cover can be arranged as needed on many policies.
  • Keep your car garaged if you can, and install the best alarm system you can afford and you could pay less .
  • You could lower your premium by opting to increase your voluntary excess. If you think this might be useful for you, please ask.
  • Even if your car is a little out of the ordinary, our brokers can still save you money. Because our staff are used to finding policies to suit unusual and even completely unique cars and motorbikes, they know which insurers offer the best policies and at prices to suit almost any budget.

We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all policy, that’s why all our policies are designed to suit each customer’s individual needs. We offer flexible and competitive womens car insurance quotes for all circumstances, sourcing the best available scheme from amongst the many offered by our panel of over 40 insurers. Why waste your time ringing round dozens of companies when we can do it for you? If you do ring round, come to us last we will do our very best to beat the cheapest quote you get.*
